FH and I currently have $10,000 cash and instead of just giving it to the hall now we want to invest it for a year to try to make a safe return on it. I'm thinking a one year CD would be the safest. Any opinions or suggestions?

Re: Investment Question
I hear ing.com is good because they have a fairly high interest rate but you still have access to your money.

I was thinking the same thing. I am also thinking about doing a CD. you will get a safe return just not as much but it is still a return.

Re: Investment Question
ing is offering 4.75% interest until April and then they are at 3.75 and you do have complete access to your money. If you were going to do a cd i would check out the 6-9 months - a year is along time to tie up your wedding money

I have online access to my accounts and after you log in there's a banner about the CD's.

They are? I'm in ing (LOVE IT!), and I'm only getting 4% (I think). Is that only for new members? (not that 4% is bad, but 4.75 is better!). I love ing direct, but just keep in mind, you can't get the $$ out of it right away, so if you know you're going to need it, transfer it back to your checking account a few days in advance). Wow... LI Weddings is about so much more than just weddings!

Re: Investment Question
I would open an account with ING or Emigrantdirect.com. Both are really good and there are no minimums, you can take out money whenever you need to, and the interest rates are really good. Right now if you open an account with Inc you get 4.75% untill April 15th and then I think it goes down to around 3.8%. Emigrant is at 4% the whole time.
