After months of debating over invitations, FH and I decided to design it ourselves and have it printed in letterpress (indented in the paper). FH wanted to use a printer that is an associate of his sister's, and I wanted to use an arms-length vendor who I have heard wonderful things about. The price difference was minimal. I went against my better judgement and let FH have his way (they have to win sometimes.) Well, needless to say, they were not printed correctly!!! They were done in offset printing (flat)!! I know it is not the end of the world, but I was miserable when I saw them
The big question is, do I spend the extra $ and have them printed again by the reputable printer?? What would you do if you were so unhappy with your invitations??
Sorry so long...TIA!!

Do you have to buy more paper to reprint?

The new printer will provide the paper at cost.

Is there room in your budget for it? If they are that messed up and you are truly that unhappy, then I'd make it known to whomever messed up in the first place (can they refund the printing cost?) and then have the reprint done.
Sorry that you have to deal with that.
eta - if you don't have the room in your budget, it's not the end of the world. No one who gets the invite will know that the printer messed up

i think the printer that messed up should refund your money completely then i would go to the other printer...

Re: Invitation Crisis!! What would you do?????
If you asked for letterpress and got offset, I would have the printer redo your invites - that's unacceptable - it doesn't matter if the printer is someone you know. If this had happened with a vendor you had no relationship with, I'm sure you would have asked the printer to redo them - don't make an exception b/c the printer is an acquaintance.
ETA: when I say redo, I mean at the printer's cost, not yours

I understand b/c we went through a friend of a family member for our invitations and they made an error and it was an akward situation. BUT you paid them good money for it and I would let them know you are unhappy.

Re: Invitation Crisis!! What would you do?????
Thanks everyone! I am going to have them reprinted. I sent my mom a copy for her opinion and she hates them, so that confirms that I am not having a bridezilla moment. I have not been invoiced on the first batch yet, but once I am, I will certainly put up a battle.

I think you made a good decision. I would think that part of the reason to have them printed would be to have the special indentation in the lettering you were looking for, otherwise you would have printed them yourself at home, which would be great, just not what you had wanted. Good luck with the reprints!

definitely get them redone if that is what you want... and make the first company pay for their mistake... it is much easier for them to absorb the cost of THEIR mistake!
