Would you put the names of one set of parents on the invitation even if they are not helping to pay for the wedding? We put both sets of parents on the invitation... Mr. and Mrs. ABC and Mr. and Mrs. DEF request the honour of your presence... We did this out of respect. But now I'm thinking I shouldn't word it like that because my FH's parents are not contributing. My parents are contributing but FH and I are paying for most of it. What do you think? What would you think if you got an invitation worded like that?

Re: Invitation Dilemma
We didn't include our parents at all. FH's family is contributing some, but this is mostly our affair. We didn't do this to be disrespectful, but we're requesting everyones presence, not the families.
I think it's nice to put both sets of parents, as long as your parents don't mind. It makes your FH's family feel included:)Are they not contributing b/c of financial concerns, or b/c they don't feel it's their place since he's a son? My FH's family didn't pay for the whole thing, or get involved with the planning, but gave a nice financial gift so I consider them 'contributing' even if it only covers a quarter of the wedding, but we still did it with just our names.

Re: Invitation Dilemma
I only put FH and mine name, as we were hosting the event. I only have my mother, who is remarried and my father is dead. Fh has both his parents, but to me it was simpler to just put only our names.
It is a nice gesture to put both the parents on.

Re: Invitation Dilemma
Since we're paying and hosting the wedding, we put our names and together with parents/families on the invitations

Re: Invitation Dilemma
Neither set are contributing up front (they are giving us gifts in the end...our choice) and we put both sets of names on the invite. Is FH close with his parents?

Re: Invitation Dilemma
my fiance and I are pretty much paying for our entire wedding. My mom is contributing what she can as well as my fiance's parents.
I am ordering my invitations on Saturday, and I am just using 'together with our parents'.
We both spoke with our parents about this and it doesn't bother them in the least. If they were paying for the wedding, I would definitely put in the parents full names. Otherwise I think together with our parents still acknowledges them in an appropriate way and shows them respect.
I hope this helps!

Re: Invitation Dilemma
Why don't you go with the traditional wording? I'm paying a lot for our wedding ( my parents giving some too) and FI parent;s none. I figure they are contributing their son and their blessing, so I will add them to the invite, but I'm using the traditional Mr. and Mrs, B. invite you to the marriage of their daughter... son of .....
I don't really care whether or not people know if we are contributing though....

Re: Invitation Dilemma
My parents gave us a set amount, FI parents help us out for paying some other things. And we will be paying for the rest. I worded our invites as:
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald YYY request the honour of your presence at their marriage of their daughter Danielle Christine to Peter Gregory son of Mr. and Mrs. Gregory ZZZ

Re: Invitation Dilemma
We did exactly what Bethsiar did, used the wording Mr. & Mrs. D invite you to share in the marriage of their daughter...to...son of Mr. & Mrs. K. FH and I are paying for about half the wedding, with the parents contributing the rest, mostly my parents w. small gift from FILs. It meant a lot to both FH and I to have both sets of parents on the invite.

Re: Invitation Dilemma
We used the line ....
Together with our parents Christine Marie and Vincent Salvatore request the honour .....
b/c we were mostly paying for the wedding ourselves. Plus my parents are divorced so it would've been even harder to start naming everyone. Hope this helps!

Re: Invitation Dilemma
We put 'Together with their parents' Stephen Cxxx and Jennifer Gxxx request the honour...
My mom gave us a sizable gift (dad is deceased)but didn't want her name on it as we are paying for 75% of the wedding. My FILs are paying for hardly anything so we thought it was just easier this way. I'm sure my ultra-traditional friends whose parents picked up everything will have an attack when they see we issued our own invites!

Re: Invitation Dilemma
We just put my parents name on the invitation since they contributed to the wedding, My husband and I paid for the rest and his parents did not give us any money towards the wedding.
The other issue that came up is the fact that his mother and father are divorced and both are remarried. His father really is not involved too much in his life so we definately wouldn't put his name on the invitation and his mother has a different last name than my husband. This problem happened a few years ago at my sisters wedding when relatives made the checks payable to Mr. & Mrs. XYZ (mother's married name) instead of the Grooms last name.
ANyway, my advice is to only include the names of the parents who are contributing to the affair. If they don't help contribute they don't belong on the invitation.

Re: Invitation Dilemma
We put both sets of parents on the invitation just to make things easier. My FI and I are paying for the whole wedding ourselves but I didn't want to stir anything up by leaving our parents off the invitation. My theory was people remember and invitation for a few months...our parents might resent the fact they were not on it for a lifetime. : )

Re: Invitation Dilemma
I wouldn't read anything into it if I got an invite like that, I don't 'think' most folks wonder which set of parents are paying more/less/anything when they recevie a wedding invite.
My Mom is the only parent contributing, paying for the entire reception & we're paying for everything else. His mother isn't contributing anything.
We're only putting our names (B&G inviting) on the invite cuz my mom doesn't want me to have any future drama w/his family over invite wording (altho in this case I don't really care what they think about that to be honest, but I see her point).

Re: Invitation Dilemma
Although we are paying for the wedding (Parents gave us money towards the house) we put both parents name on the invite
Mr & Mrs Charles _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Mr & Mrs P. Joseph _ _ _ _ _ Request the honor of your presence At the Marriage of their Children
Stacey Ann & John Joseph
We did it just out of respect

Re: Invitation Dilemma
If i got your invitation...i would think BOTH sets of parents were paying. basically i think the assumption is that whoever 'requests the presence' of the guests is the one footing the bill

Re: Invitation Dilemma
We are putting
Mr & Mrs robert xxxx request.....
Karalynne to Peter
Son of Mrs. Patricia XXXX and Mr. Peter XXXX
and now my mother is having a heart attack she wants her 1st name on it. My parents are married the only reason why his parents are separte is because they are divorced...
Edited to say My parents are giving some money FH and I are footing most of the bill Am I wrong?????
