I am having major issues with invitation wording! My mother passed away in 99' and I would really love to include her on the invite in some way. I know proper 'etiquette' says in that case that you only include the father's name. I do, however want to include my mom because I know she would love it. Did anyone else have a similar dilemma with a deceased relative? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Re: Invitation dilemma suggestions needed
You can do:
Mary Smith
Daughter of Mr John Smith and the Late Mrs Jane Smith
and
Peter Jones
Son of
Mr and Mrs Michael Jones
something like this.

I think it's so nice that you want to include her. I have seen wordings such as daughter of 'Mr. John Smith & the late Jane Smith' i guess it depends on who the invite is coming from--you guys or your dad- hope i helped a little!

Word it as
Your name, daughter of [father's name] and the late Mrs. [mother's nam].
I had same issue with FI father. I think it's wrong not to add the name, they are your parent whether alive or passing.
My FMIL really appreciated it and so did his father's side of the family. Do what makes you feel good and what you think is right.

Thanks for the suggestions! Great ideas! I am also wondering if mentioning a deceased relative is too sad for some people or if they think it is inappropriate cause I have never seen it!

Honestly, we're doing a Memory Lighting at the ceremony and I think that is a little more 'sadder' than mentioning his father's name as his father on the invitation. It's an emotional day to begin with, nothing wrong with respecting someone you love or their memory. Like I said, do what makes you feel complete doing.
