I just got an invitation to the wedding of my FH's friend from work. It was addressed on the outer envelope to Mr. First Last Name and Guest. There was no writing on the inner envelope. I HATE being referred to as 'Guest' on wedding invitations especially since my FH and I have been together longer than this couple has even known each other, plus we live together and are engaged. They know my first name and could have easily gotten my last name. What is the proper etiquette in this situation?

Re: Invitation etiquette
I think in your situation the proper ettiquette would be to write Mr. John Doe and Mrs. Jane Doe. Since they did not do that I would write both your names on the response card. Maybe this couple will get the hint.
I absolutely think you are right, but remember men don't always think about these things (I'm sure some do, but mine is one that does not)...I asked my FH tons of times to get last names and see if his friends were dating anyone...well I think he just told me he didn't think they were dating anyone...so 2 of his work friends had 'and guest', but are dating people (I don't mean to upset you, but it gets to the point you need to get the invites out and FH doesn't realize the importance)
I also made another mistake...which I just found out friday... I knew his friend at work only as 'Tom' then FH gave me his 'date's' name...I thought it was his wife (they are only dating)...so I addressed it to Mr and Mrs Thomas Herlastname!!! although the friend probably didn't notice, I bet the girlfriend got a kick out of it...
