Ok...my parents are paying for my wedding 100%. My FH parents have not offered a dime, which is fine. But they are upset because their names are not on the invitations. My invites go like this:
Mr and Mrs R H&^*^&^* Would like to invite you blah blah blah to the wedding of their daughter Lisa blah blah to Joe Schmoe
Am I wrong? I thought whoever hosted the event puts their name on the invite.

My parents partially paid for the wedding with myself and DH. Dh's parents paid for the rehearsal dinner. We felt that we wanted both set of parents names on the invites. This is what we put and both sides were fine with it: Mr & Mrs Xxxxxxx Xxxxxxxxx invite you to join them in celebrating the marriage of their daughter Marcie Ann to James Edward son of Mr & Mrs Xxxxxxxx Xxxxxxxx on Friday, the twenty-second of October two thousand and four at three-thirty in the afternoon

My parents paid for the whole thing. So we only named them on the invite.

I agree....That wording is nice because it is clear that the bride's parents are hosting.

I am doing the identical thing and Finace is fine with that. I feel that my parents are paying therefore they should be honored on the invitation....

My parents are giving us 85% of the money for the wedding and my FH and I are paying the other 15%. We only put my parents' names on the invites.

Both of our parenta are paying, though we havent decided what and who we are putting on the invites yet-I would put both-but in your case if your parents are paying they are hosting and I would only put their names.
According to my handy dandy reference book it is etiquette to put the names of the party/parties hosting the affair. i.e. paying for the affair

We are doing the 'son of' thing and always planned to but I read in my Crane's book that it is typically a Jewish custom. Personally, I do not see any reason to exclude the parents of an FH. Marriage is the joining of two families, not who is footing the bill. JMO.

I think that- if they are not contributing to the cost they shouldn't get to contribute to the decision making either. Do the invitations how you want them!

Re: Invitation Fiasco!!! PLease help me!!!
FH parents are helping pay, and my mother cannot afford to. I do not think it's really about the money, imo. Both parents will be on the invite.

Re: Invitation Fiasco!!! PLease help me!!!
thats what I wanted to say. My parents have NO $$ and Im sure felt really badly about not being able to contribute. It shouldnt be about the money.
I didnt put either on, just because with divorces it would have been confusing...
His mom and his dad gave me almost 10 thousand for the wedding but it way after the invites went out.

I am in the exact same situation as you. FH's parents aren't even contributing to the RD. Only my parents name went on the invites!

Re: Invitation Fiasco!!! PLease help me!!!
What do you put on if your father is deceased... do you put his name on???
I do want to put both my mom, and FI parents on... even though we are trying to pay for the entire thing ourselves.
I think they are our parents... and who cares whos paying.
