So my FSIL's mom works for a printing company and I can get wedding invitations 50% off...great! I picked out a design motnhs ago and didn't think about it again, until now, when I actually have to make a decision.
Enter etsy, and about half a dozen wedding invitations I *love*. After seeing these, my original invite is not as exciting to me, and not fitting my theming as well as these others. I have done some more looking on the printing co's website, and I just feel like I can't find anything that matches the ones I found on etsy. They are either underwhelming, or not customizable (aka not in my color scheme).
Of course, with all the inserts and calligraphy, the etsy ones will cost almost twice as much.
*SIGH*
I don't know what to do.
ETA: with pics
This is the original one I liked...would be sage green bow and navy writing:
My two favs from etsy:
another option from etsy, not my favorite, but its printable so it would be cheaper:

Do you have the money in your budget to go for the more expensive ones?

Re: Invitation frustration
i feel your pain. i've been picking out my invitation scheme for almost 2 years now. maybe see if that company can design something for you directly based on what you found on etsy?
I also finally found something i really love on magnetstreetweddings.com - they have a million designs and are very affordable!

ugh, I totally hear you! FFIL can get me wholesale prices on Birchcraft but I am not a fan. At all.
If you have the money, get your dream invite. Although 'its only paper' it does set your tone/theme and will forever be in your pictures and scrapbook.

I agree with Melissa! If you can fit it into your budget then do what makes you happy.

I was thinking exactly this, that it sets the tone for the wedding! I am thinking I want to go for my dream invites, because I have started to compromise in other areas for practicality/budget (namely transportation).
I think I'm just feeling guilty and not looking forward to the convo with my parents. lol But I think we can make it work.
Thanks ladies! I'll let you know how things turn out. I ordered the samples I liked from etsy and the other from the printing co so maybe the proof will be in the pudding as they say!

I love the Pink style from Etsy!! I also really do like your original idea with the bow. Still classy and clean!

Honest opinion:
The first ones are very elegant and neat. Especially when color is added to them. It's sometimes hard for people to imagine it with color so I'm sure almost everyone will vote for Etsy. However, the original with the pocket fold look like they cost some $$. I really like them (not white of course)
I am not in love with the ones from ETSY. If they are double the price, I vote no for sure.
SORRY!!!!

The pink is my favorite, too, though i think I would do it in the green...the blue is FH's favorite.
I do like my original still I just think the one from etsy has a little more character without being kitchsy or over the top. I think I need to the right fonts I would use for the 1st one and see if I can match that of the etsy ones.
I like how the pocketfold invites are organized and definitely protective of all the inserts, but I feel like every invitation I've gotten for the past 2 years are pocketfolds, so I was trying to go for something a little different. No offense, of course, since I might end up with them, but was just trying to stir up something new with a bundle instead.
ETA: spellcheck! lol

I know what you mean, the pink ones have more character but I like the organization of the first. I have been to approx 6 weddings in the last 2 years and I don't remember any of them having a pocket fold!! For me, it's exciting and different. It is your day though, so it really boils down to what you like best!!
Mine are just 1 page DIY with a ribbon and pearl. Saved big $$$$$

I think your original pick is perfect. Remember, it is eventually going to go in the trash!

I agree. I like your original one but if you can splurge and really want the other one go for it! I don't think you'll go wrong with whichever you end up chosing.

Thanks ladies, you've made my decision slightly harder -ha! - but that's a good thing. I do like the original choice, classic and clean as someone said. I'll keep you all posted.
You girls just rock.

I would go for the ones you really like and try to see if you can keep costs down in another area for the wedding, ex: favors or programs.

I also really like your original ones best. I would add some bling on the ribbons and they would be perfecton imo

I like the original ones but you should get whatever makes you & FH happy. Maybe you can save $ somewhere else & get the invites you like

Re: Invitation frustration *updated with pics*
I like the original and the pink one. It is a tough decision to make and I didn't want to spend alot on invitations. Despite knowing that people throw them out I couldn't help but fall in love with something fancy and had to have it.
