Invitation help

The invitations we are ordering come with inner envelopes, but since we are paying to have them addressed by a hand calligrapher, is it really necessary to address the inner envelopes. Do you think we can get away with just the outside? I am not inviting any children, so I won't have to worry about that aspect. But, it will say Mr. John Smith and Guest on the outside.

What do you think?

Re: Invitation help

I think you need the outside to indicate if the person can bring a guest. To save money you could always have only the ones with unknown guests listed on the inner.

Re: Invitation help

I personally think you need the inner envelope, but I just really like to stick with etiquette. JMO. What about printing the inner envelope using a computer with a really nice and fancy font?

Re: Invitation help

I am going to use the inner envelope. To me this is the indicator of who is invited. I do not want any confusion.

Re: Invitation help

Just to add: If you are inviting John Smith & guest, would you really address the outer envelope Mr.John Smith and Guest if they do not live together.

This is coming from a person who is trying to keep her guest list down, so I want to make sure people know who IS invited and who is NOT.

Re: Invitation help

My invitations will not have an inner envelope. I will just address the outer envelope as Mr. John Smith and Guest.
