Invitation oops! advice?

Invitation oops! advice?

Well I was just going through my missing RSVP's, and I think I forgot to send one to a relative. I like this person, however I probably see her once or twice a year.
She did not invite me to either of her weddings, (She is a step-relation),so she probably thinks she was not invited.
I may have even sent the save the date but not the invite.
I know I asked her dad for her address, so he probably said something as well.
Should I call and apologize and invite her?
Should I pretend it got lost in the mail?
My aunt put together all the family addy's in an email, and sent hers separately, which is why I think it slipped through the cracks.

I hate to lie to people, but if I were in your situation, I would call her and tell her it just got sent back to you in the mail and that you'll send a new one immediately. (You could even say that it looks like its been all over the country judging on the condition it is in---to hide the fact that it took a while to get back to you)

I swear I'm not a bad person, I just think its the easiest way to still invite her without letting her know you forgot ...Good luck!

I would pretend it got lost in the mail, but that's just me. And I would have FH do it because I'm horrible at lying. Do what you feel comfortable with.

I would call her and act dumb and say, I haven't gotten your RSVP back yet. When she says she never received an invite, act all suprised and say it must have gotten lost in the mail.

hmmm...3 for three.
I feel like such an idiot.
I was wondering why she didn't rsvp.
Did anyone else make a similar mistake?

I'd call her and say you are doing your final #s and have not received her rsvp yet? At this time she'll probably tell you she hasnt gotten it yet and you can tell her your not sure how that happened. It's fibbing only slightly

If you arent sure if you sent it-then call her and ask if she got it-if she says no just say must have gotten lost in the mail

I totally screwed up my invitations. FH's family must think I'm an idiot. Here are the mistakes I made

-addressed invite to FH's friend and her second husband - using her exhusband's name (Mr & Mrs Ex)
-Future SIL's parents in law said they didn't get an invite
-Addressed envelope to couple who was just married using their unmarried names (mr. so and so and ms so and so - instead of mrs and mr) - to make matters worse, she is a doctor so I didn't even call her doctor. In addition, they just moved and I had the old address.
-had one of FH's cousins invite going to the address of a different uncle (should have gone to his mother's house b/c he's out of state and in process of moving)

In fairness to me, FH's parents supposedly checked my list, and FH never even looked at his portion of the list. I didn't make any errors on my family's side of the list.

Re: Invitation oops! advice?

Yup -- yesterday I was at lunch at a friend's house when they asked who was coming. Since it's only 29 days away, I have a pretty good idea. I realized that I hadn't received a friend's RSVP and then though, 'oh no -- why didn't I know that until now -- was he not on the list?!?!!?' Had surgery on my throat a while back -- can't speak at all right now much less talk on the phone. So, I texted a friend and asked her to ask about his RSVP since I didn't receive it. She texted me back that he said he wasn't invited. I almost threw up! I felt so bad. Had no cell or personal e-mail address for him. So I quickly mapquested the address and drove there breaking all kinds of traffic laws. They weren't home. I left the invitation and a note in their screen door. This is someone I think very highly of. I wish someone had let me know that he didn't receive an invite sooner. Haven't heard back from him or his wife yet...
Sicky situation, but I did the best I could and it was completely unintentional... stuff happens. I would never have tried to hurt him --or anyone else-- intentionally...

Exactly what I would do.

Pretend it got lost in the mail! That's easier

God, this may sound mean, but I would just lie and call her and ask if she got it in the mail and planning on attending and when she says she didnt get it then tell her it must have gotten lost in the mail

Re: Invitation oops! advice?

well my aunt just called,I did send her a save the date, but not the invite.
So I just called and left a message that I was so sorry, I wanted them to come, and I made an error when I gave the list to the caligrapher.
(Which is what happened)
At least she knows I wanted her to come.

update...spoke to relative...she was very nice about it.
Can't come due to other side of family stuff, but glad it's resolved.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
