Invitation postage advice, after the fact

Invitation postage advice, after the fact

When you go to weigh your invitations, and talk to the clerk behind the counter about how much postage you need, be sure to show them an invitation with a printed envelope. Because you might go home, add beautiful $.64 wedding cake stamps to all of your invitations and then go back to the post office to mail them only to be told that as the addresses are printed vertically down the envelope, instead of across, you need $.20 more which can either be two $.10 stamps of clocks

or one $.28 stamp of a
polar bear.

OMG THIS HAPPENED TO ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

but i was lied to..... i actually had everything weighed in advance.... the guy was a moron. sooooo annoying

ETA: the reason mine were $0.20 more than we were told is because I had ribbon which was 'non-machinable' and there is a surcharge...

but the fact that i had everything hand canceled and nothing ran thru a machine didn't prevent all of my envelopes from being chewed up, spit out and destroyed befpre reaching their destinations... $200 later

i seriously want to sue the post office for negligent infliction of emotional distress!

In case you're wondering, we're going for the polar bear and if people ask, which I know they won't, I'll tie it back to Lost some how. :)

at least it's a cute polar bear, as if that's any consolation.

i've also had some issues with the post office. After going to two PO's, finally found someone to hand cancel my std's. The kicker? after hand cancelling, she sent them through the machine too, so they were freaking DOUBLE cancelled.

I hadn't either, and I was really surprised when I got them back as I didn't remember ordering them that way, but they look great. I just wish I had known pre-polar bear.
