Invitation Problem (kind of long)

Invitation Problem (kind of long)

UGH! I ordered invitations from And I Quote in Port Jeff Station. The women there are wonderful and I have been very pleased with their service, however, yesterday I stopped in to see the invitations and they're warped. They don't lay flat and when stacked it looks like a big wave. Individually they don't look as bad but I'm still upset. When all is said and done they cost $800!
The owner of the store has called NuArt, the company who is prinitng them and they even sent a second batch with the same problem.
I want to take them as is and ask for a discount (they mentioned this was an option). How much of a discount should I ask for? They can't do anything with the invitations but throw them away if I don't take them.

HELP! Any advice?

That's what I was thinking. The company who makes the invitation suggested putting something heavy on it. Ummmm, yeah, thanks. I don't want to have to press my invites betwen two dictionaries!!!!!!!!

Did u say they were ok individually atleast? If thats the case then I'd ask for a discount and then just not worry about it! Good luck

Wow! How much of a discount? I would say start with a high number and work your way down with them. I would have to agree on the half off. Give it a shoot - you never know.

Re: Invitation Problem (kind of long)

It depends how bad they look individually. If not so bad, that you don't think people will notice, or they'll assume they got bent in the mail, then ask for at least half off. And be serious about it. If they won't give it to you, walk. If they look bent when you hold one up, ask for 75% off. Otherwise they're going to throw them out, they probably will take whatever they can get.

I don't know which invitations you got, but if they're not already mounted on a backing layer, you could take the money you got off, buy backing cardstock, and mount them. The backing cardstock should keep them flat, right? Use adhesive spray. They might end up looking way better and more expensive! Personally, I like it when you use ribbon, too, but that would be more work.

Let us know what happens, I'm interested!

Re: Invitation Problem (kind of long) UPDATE

The update - The owner of the store called and said NuArt is offering us $50 off. That's it. I can't believe it!!!!!! They already have a $400 deposit. I am going down to the store with my mom tomorrow so she can help me decide if they are really bad. I'm so upset about this. People will probably think they got warped in the mail but that's not the point. If i'm paying more than $600 for invitiations I want them to be perfect. I am so bad at getting what I want from vendors. I back down so easily. That's why I'm bringing my mom - reinforcements!!! Wish me luck. I will update!

Yeah-at least half off. They offered $50 off?!?! Then I would tell them to reprint them.

$50!
I would never take that, I hope your mom is able to fix this and make it a little better if nothing else

Re: Invitation Problem Updated again

Well I brought my mom down today and she looked at the invitations. She said it wasn't too bad and most non-brides would not notice. We took the $50 off and left with them. I guess it's ok, and to be honest, I'm just happy to have them at this point.
Thanks for your support girls!

Honestly if you are not happy do not take them and do not pay them ANYTHING! Go somewhere else.
