Invitation questions

How do I address the outer envelope when I'm inviting someone with a guest but don't know who is the guest?

2) What do I write in the inner envelope when the outer envelope says Mr. & Mrs. John Doe (married couple) or Ms. Jane Whatever and Mr. John Doe (not married couple)

3) what do i do with the paper (tissue) the invitation comes with?

can you tell I'm clueless!.....BTW....if there are things that you know I am going to eventually ask or I might forget....PLEASE feel free to inform me

1. You should make a good faith effort to find out what the guest's name is, esp if it is a significant other.... otherwise, Mr. John Doe and Guest will suffice if you're letting them bring random dates.

2. On the outer env. you always write their formal titles, e.g., Mr. and Mrs. John Doe, Dr. and Mrs. John Doe, Rev. and Mrs. John Doe
If you're guests are not married but live together, you should address them as Mr. John Doe and Mrs. Jane Smith and send it, otherwise, if the guest are married and NOT living together, proper etiquette requires that you send each person an invite separately to where each person resides. On the inner env, if you know the guests well, you can simply write their names, John and Jane, or John and Jane Doe.

3. You put the tissue on top of your invitation.

Hope this helps.

Miss if the lady is over the age of 18 with no children. Ms. if under the age of 18.
