My church ceremony begins at 2pm. My officiants are telling me to put 1:30 on the invitation so everyone will be seated and the ceremony will start exactly on time. This way we will be finished on time and have plenty of time for pictures. Is it rude to make the guest come a half an hour early?

I did the same exact thing.
My ceremony was at 330 and I wrote down 3:00. Since my wedding was a friday of a holiday weekend, we wanted to make sure the people who were coming came on time and beat the traffic.
We also changed the time by 15 minutes I believe for the reception.

I think it's ok to fudge the time a litte, people do tend to be late. I didn't mess with the time on mine, partially because I didn't think of it, but since the ceremony was at the hall, everyone was there on time.

I don't think it's rude at all and I will be doing the same. My ceremony is at 3pm and I will be writing half past two...don't underestimate the late comers!
