INVITATION WORDING

I NEED EVERYBODY'S HELP WITH THIS ONE...
MY DAD (COMING FOR THE WEDDING FROM AZ) DIDNT GIVE US MUCH $$ FOR THE WEDDING. MY MOM AND STEPDAD AND FH PARENTS GAVE US MOST OF THE MONEY. HOWEVER WE ARE ALSO PAYING FOR A GOOD PORTION OF THE WEDDING OURSELVES. HOW SHOULD THE INVITATIONS BE WORDED?
I WANT TO SAY 'TOGETHER WITH THEIR PARENTS' .....MY MOM ON THE OTHER HAND THINKS THAT HER AND MY STEPDAD AND FH PARENTS SHOULD BE THE ONLY ONES ON THERE. WHAT DO I DO?

Can't please everyone!
Do what you think is right.

Together with their parents is nice. Anyone who is close to you will know that includes your mother and mother's husband.

My dad and Inlaws paid for a good chunk of our wedding, and DH and I paid the rest.
We listed FOB, MOB, and Parents of Groom just because I figured it would bring a lot of bad energy if I didn't include my mother's name. (Even though she didn't pay for any of the wedding). We couldn't even give ourselves credit for saving a little less than half of the money ourselves!

Oh well, LOL the things you do to steer away from drama and tension!

Good Luck.

ETA: You could always write
Bride/Groom
Along with their families,
Mr. FOB
Mr and Mrs. SF/MOB
and
F/MOG
invite you to celebrate.... But it might be too long.
It's up to you. Make sure you have everyone addressed that you would want addressed.

Re: INVITATION WORDING

I just received a wedding invitation today from my cousin, and he included his father in addition to his mother and stepfather.

I guess it's ok, especially if you're inviting family from your father's side. I think it's more about him being your dad and giving his blessing, rather than what he's able to give.

Re: INVITATION WORDING

Even though we're paying for the wedding with my parents help, we put the names of everyone on the invitations - even his late mom. We did it like this

Mr. & Mrs. X X
Request the honour of your presence
At the marriage uniting their daughter...
Missy
to
Jay
Son of Mr. & Mrs. X X
And the late Mrs. X X

Even though his parents aren't helping to pay for the wedding, we thought that it was a nice idea to honor them...not to mention that it will avoid hurt feelings HTH!

Re: INVITATION WORDING

My father, bless his heart, is quite clueless when it comes to weddings. He hasn't offered to pay for anything, nor would I ever ask him to.
FH's parents have contributed and FH and I are paying the bulk.
Our invites were worded as such,

Susi B R and Michael E M
together with their parents
Hubert R
and
John and Elaine K
invite you to celebrate
etc etc etc

We bucked from tradition and decided to honor our parents by including them on our invitation. the only part of tradition I stuck with is leaving off my mom's name since she is deceased and therefore cannot be a host of the party. She will be honored with a memorial candle.

Re: INVITATION WORDING

My parents are divorced too, and even though they are amiable, I wanted to keep it simple. I personally feel that 'Together with their parents' is the best way to go, especially if a few different people are paying for things. Me and FH's names take center stage then, but everyone knows how important our parents are to us.

I think parents like to get their names in there because it's more personal and probably makes them feel more important, which is cool, but the day is really all about you and FH.

Traditionally, the bride's parents would pay for the entire wedding, and that is why the invite would say something like 'Mr. & Mrs. Billy Bob request the honor of your presence at the wedding of their daughter so and so to so and so, son of bla bla bla' Because essentially, the parents of the bride were the ones throwing the party, so they are the inviters... so to speak. If you like 'together with their parents' I say go for it. That's what I'm doing

ETA - even though your dad isn't paying for anything, he's still your dad, ya know? You might not want to leave jsut his name out... I don't know. It's tricky, so I say no names except yours. JMO
