invitation wording

okay so my mother passed away and my father remarried what do you think of this wording i am close with my step mother and she is sooo helpful i love her but i still want to honor my mother and let it be known that she is my step mother for the people at the wedding who do not already know this ie FH distant family and what not....

so i was thinking of this:

MR&MRS M SMITH
(IN HONOR OF THE LATE MRS A SMITH)
AND
MR AND MRS F SMITH

AND THEN THE REST OF THE TRADITIONAL INVITATION WORDING

AT THE CHURCH I AM ALSO GOING TO HAVE A MEMORY CANDLE AND THE MASS WILL BE IN MEMORY OF MY MOTHER....

THANK YOU!!!!!

Re: invitation wording

It's a lovely gesture, but I think the wording is a little awkward. It makes it sound like your father and stepmother are throwing the party for your deceased mother and not for you.

I'm sorry I don't have a better suggestion yet, I'll Google around and look for examples.

Re: invitation wording

yeah i do like it and i like that it would have my mothers name on the invitiation to reconize her even though she is deceased

but thank you for being honost

it is a tricky one.....

maybe i can tweak the in honor of some how and put maybe in memory of or something.....

Re: invitation wording

Okay, according to tradition, this is how it goes:

'Mr. and Mrs. YourFatherandStepmother
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of his daughter
Bride
to
Groom

The bride's mother should be acknowledged elsewhere: the newspaper announcement(s), the ceremony program, and (if appropriate to the beliefs of the bride and groom) in a memorial prayer during the wedding service.'

Since you want FH's family to know that you are not your stepmom's natural daughter, the 'at the marriage of HIS daughter' line takes care of that. It doesn't take care of honoring your mother on the invite itself, but I can't find anything online about that yet!
