I never received an invitation with that wording so I wasn't sure if it would be ok...
actually my friend did it the way you plan to with 'together with their families' first. that's what gave me the idea and i LOVE it.
I really like it too...it was bugging me for so long as to what the wording would be, and I found that one on some site the other day...

Oh God! That's another decision! I can't decide on the colors of the invites...I mean, I know what colors I want, just don't know how to arrange them...
What color should the envelope be, the backlayer, the printed layer...too many decisions!
