invitation wording

invitation wording

Does anyone have any suggestions??? Our parents want their names on the invitation, which isn't a problem BUT FH parents are divorced and remarried. How do we include all 6 parents? FH is close with his step parents so we can't leave them out.

Re: invitation wording

the easy way (so that the invite is not overloaded with words) would be:
'Together with our families'

But if you want to spell them all out you can just list them at the top of the invite:

Mr & Mrs. John Doe
Mr & Mrs. Joe Smith
Mr & Mrs Bill Campbell
request the honor of your presence at the marriage of:
etc etc etc

Re: invitation wording

I know exactly what you mean. My parents are divorced and remarried and everyone is helping pay.

We did our invitations about 2 weeks ago and chose 'together with our families'. I looked at a sample that way and a sample with everyone's names and it would have been 5 lines of text before mine & FH's names. I asked all the parents and they all seem to be fine with what FH and I chose. But I guess we'll really know when the proof comes in.

Maybe if you could find a sample and show them both options it'll be easier to decide. We liked 'together with our families' because it acknowledges everyone and is more to the point.

We have 4 different sets of family members, plus ourselves, paying for the wedding. We did:

Together with our families

Bride & Groom

Request the honor of....

It is a lot of names to include, but are you inviting any of their friends who would not know who you and your FH are immediately?

If everyone knows you and the FH then I say together with our families... but I like to list the parents names

Originally, I wanted list everyone's names, but it was just too much.

As for our parents friends, I think we know most of them. And the ones we don't really know, know who we are. I also feel that's up to the parents to make sure everyone knows who we are, it is our wedding after all, and not theirs!
