This is my 2nd marriage. After I divorced my 1st husband I kept his last name (because of the kids). Should I use my maiden name on the invites? I feel like using my ex's last name is kind of disrespectful to my FH??? Everyone will still know its me b/c of the first name.and most people going to the wedding know my maiden name anyway.. please let me know what you think or what you would do. Thanks!!

I'm bad at this stuff I don't know the 'rules', but if it were me, I'd use my maiden name.

I don't think it really bothers him...it just makes me feel awkward...

Re: Invitation wording for brides remarrying?
Ok so i just happen to have a couple of wedding invitation books i borrowed from the printing shop that will be doing our invitations and it gives you wording etiquette on many situations. For example, parents divorced, parents divorced and re-married, a parent passing, double weddings and seconds marriages. It goes as follows:
'invitations to the marriage of a young divorcee or widow do not differ from those of a first marriage except that the bride's married name is used.
Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Palmer request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Karen Elizabeth Stratton etc etc.....
This does not represent what i think just how the so called etiquette is. I wish you the best of luck!

Re: Invitation wording for brides remarrying?
My invitations just say my first and middle name and then has FH's full name. I think this is the traditional wording (with the brides parents inviting the guests).

That's another issue...only our mothers are helping and involved with the wedding (both our parents are divorced). So we don't know how to word the invites...we'd feel bad leaving our fathers out BUT neither one is really involved at all in the planning or 'inviting'... Maybe just say somethnig like 'together with our parents...'?

Re: Invitation wording for brides remarrying?
That would be the easiest way of doing it. You include the people involved but yet do not hurt anyones feelings. That is how we have our parents included since mine are both divorced and re married.

Re: Invitation wording for brides remarrying?
I am pretty sure that you could do the following (Ive seen them both done)
First Name and Middle name of bride/Groom Ex Jennifer Marie and Vincent John
or you could use your maiden name. Either is fine, but I wouldn't use your ex husbands last name... I wouldn't I would think seeing it on another invitation may be strange to me and to others ... hth :)

I think I would use my maiden name. Then again, I am not aware of the proper etiquette for this one.

Re: Invitation wording for brides remarrying?
I'm so glad you posted this..... I am in the same boat.. after the divorce of my ex , I kept his last name bc of the kids....now I don't know what to do. Also, I don't have a middle name, so would it be weird if i just did..
Nicole and Sean Anthony ???
Help please!!!!!!!!
I feel the same way about it being disrespectful for FH, altho he hasn't mentioned it, still feels weird to me....
Also, it is only our mothers now, and we are doing the whole planning on our own, so it wouldnt say along with our parents, just us
what about just your middle name if you have one???

Re: Invitation wording for brides remarrying?
well when FH met you, you were you with your married name. Unless it is an issue with him, I would use your name now... But then again, I don't really know how you and FH feel about it. I'm sorry I am no help

Hi, Shari!!! Donna is also divorced but changed back to her maiden name. I think it would be a loving thing to do, for your FH, to use your maiden name. Mary MOB
