Invitation Wording Help

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the board and have been finding it extremely helpful!!! I'm having a hard time trying to word my invitation. My FI parents are paying for the wedding but i would really like to include my parents name on the invitations as well. I started to draft it and came up with something like this:

Mr. and Mrs. John Doe
request the pleasure of your company
at the marriage of
Amy Brown
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Brown
to their son
David Doe
on Saturday, the eleventh of June
Two thousand and eleven
at seven o’clock in the evening

Fox Hollow
7725 Jericho Turnpike
Woodbury, New York

Reception to follow

R.S.V.P.

Does it look ok? or just tacky?

Thanks for all your help!!! :)

If you like that format I'd just switch your names

'....the marriage of their son, David Doe, to Amy Brown, daughter of.....'

that sounds better to me.

oh and the RSVP doesn't need to be on the actual invitation. You should have a separate card for that.

Thanks for your input. I think it sounds better with the Groom's name first under the circumstances. I was just concerned that the Bride's name was suppose to go first since all invitation wording etiquettes seem to point that out.

So the revision should be:

Mr. and Mrs. John Doe
request the pleasure of your company
at the marriage of their son
David
to
Amy Brown
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Brown
on Saturday, the eleventh of June
Two thousand and eleven
at seven o’clock in the evening

Fox Hollow
7725 Jericho Turnpike
Woodbury, New York

Reception to follow

or should i add the Groom's last name?
