You all are all so helpful so thank you thank you thank you in advance.... Here's my situation. My parents, and my fiance and I are paying for the wedding. His parents have been completely USELESS!!! Emotional and Financially thus far.
Over the weekend I went to an invitation place, and they suggested I put his parents names on the invite. Since, they are not doing ANYTHING for us I only want my parents name and my fiances name on the invite... What do you think?

Re: Invitation Wording Opinion
if you don't use his parents name you usually put his full name. we are doing his first middle and last name

Re: Invitation Wording Opinion
is your FH's relationship with his parents good or bad? If it's good, you could do:
Mr. and Mrs. Your Parents request the honor of your presence at the wedding of their daughter
You to FH
son of Mr. and Mrs. His Parents
this way, it's obvious that your parents are the hosts

Re: Invitation Wording Opinion
my parents and Fh and i are paying (also my parents are seperated so we are splitting up their names) so we are doing something like this
jaclyn marie & John Robert Jr together with the bride's parents Mr. Michael blah & Mrs. Gina Blah
invite you yada yada ....

Re: Invitation Wording Opinion
If your FH is ok with not including his parents names then you don't have to:
Here is the traditional way and if they say anything you can say you chose traditional:
Mr and Mr John Doe request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter
Jane Lynn
to
First Middle Last
If you add son of xxxx people will think they contributed.

I initially wanted to include 'son of' and his parent's names but FH said he didn't want that.

Re: Invitation Wording Opinion
my parents are paying for everything- his parents haven't offered a dime but we are still including his parents names on the invitation. i just think it's a courtesy out of respect for them. so ours says this:
Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Durand request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Sophie Lynn to Jeffrey Lautrec son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lautrec Saturday, the third of March Two thousand and twelve at two o'clock in the afternoon Fox Green Country Club 2621 Hunter Avenue Atlanta, Georgia
i think they will appreciate it when they get their invite!

i have to say i agree with this they raised him regardless of if theyre not chipping in for the wedding jmo... but if you really dont want to then i suggest the format that i commented on before

you cannot go wrong doing this(including the parents names) out of respect-despite the fact that they have not made anything easier for you both.
it stinks that it is even an issue. I know how hurtful it can be. For us-its more of an emotional thing rather than financial thing(though they haven't offered or given a dime either) our situation is a bit tricky.

I like this format. I don't think its important to point out who helped pay on the invitation. We did ours like this the honour of your presence is requested at the wedding of Shari Last Name daughter of (both parents names) to Matthew (last name) son of both parents names
We did it this way because we both lost a parent. We wanted all our parents names on the invite. Actually, my mom and his dad helped equally, if anything, his dad helped a little more, but the invite doesn't specify who is hosting, its just inviting people.
Again, this is just my opinion - everyone's is different. Do what you are comfortable with -talk to your FH and close friends - not the lady in the invite store.
