Invitation Wording Opinion

Original post by Bridetoobe

Girls,

You all are all so helpful so thank you thank you thank you in advance....
Here's my situation.
My parents, and my fiance and I are paying for the wedding. His parents have been completely USELESS!!! Emotional and Financially thus far.

Over the weekend I went to an invitation place, and they suggested I put his parents names on the invite.
Since, they are not doing ANYTHING for us I only want my parents name and my fiances name on the invite...
What do you think?

is your FH's relationship with his parents good or bad? If it's good, you could do:

Mr. and Mrs. Your Parents
request the honor of your presence
at the wedding of their daughter

You
to
FH

son of Mr. and Mrs. His Parents

this way, it's obvious that your parents are the hosts

That's how you should do it. We're doing it that way, too. I don't want to completely exclude his parents, but my parents are paying, so they should get the 'credit' of being the hosts.

My fiance's parents aren't contributing at all but I didn't want to upset anyone and have a life full of pissed off in-laws. They're really nice people but sooo bad with money and don't have anything to contribute so we put:

Mr. and Mrs. My Parents
request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter

my first and middle to
his first and middle

son of Mr. and Mrs. His Parents

there is no reason to put thier names on the invite! Give credit where it is due!

Re: Invitation Wording Opinion

I think a lot of people use the invites as a passive aggressive way to say 'You didn't contribute to the cost of a wedding, you're not going on the invite'. Of course there are exceptions if parents aren't involved in someone's life but a marriage is a blending of families and I think it's better to put them on than leave them off. I'm sure if people had money to give, they would.
Sorry... just my opinion. This seems to be a common sticky situation.
