Invitation wording... parents' names?

Do you put parents full names on the invitation (Mr. & Mrs. first middle and last) or just their first and last names? We are listing our 4 parents separately because both of our parents are divorced (yes, the invitations are long and big!) and we didn't know whether to list their names as just first and last or first middle and last.

Re: Invitation wording... parents' names?

We had long and big invitations for the same reason. We put first and last names only for the parents.

Re: Invitation wording... parents' names?

I originally wasn't going to put my father's full name, but my mother insisted...his full middle name and his 'Jr.'

Re: Invitation wording... parents' names?

Did you put Mr. and Mrs. John Smith or Jane and John Smith? I'm not sure about the mother's name. Do you put it on?

Re: Invitation wording... parents' names?

I have never seen
Mr.& Mrs. William John Smith normally the invite would read
Mr & Mrs. William Smith
Using
Mr. & Mrs. William and Ann Smith is not correct

You can just put
Together with our parents (or family)

If you need to have everyone's name on the invite then you need to have
Mr. William Smith and Ms. Ann XX request the honor.....
Mary
and
Mr. Glenn Bliss
son of Mr. John Bliss and Ms. Sara XX

Some people do use
John and Mary Smith request the honor...
But in would be considered a less formal way of wording your invite.

Re: Invitation wording... parents' names?

We had the same situation. My parents are divorced, Dad is remarried and his Mother is widowed so we put:
With the blessing of their parents
Bride Name
and
Groom Name
Request the honour blah blah blah

Re: Invitation wording... parents' names?

We were going to do 'Together with their parents...' but since my father is paying for the wedding, his name has to be on the invitation. We are listing each parents name separetely, with my parents on top and then after FH's name '...son of' his parents. We are not putting step-parents names on the invitation. It would just be too much.

I'm just still not sure whether to use parent's middle names or not. Neither of my parents have middle names (and neither do I) but I am definitely putting FH's middle name, so it is really just his mother and father that I am unsure about.

Re: Invitation wording... parents' names?

If your parents are married, you put 'Mr. and Mrs. John Doe.' You only list them separately if they are, well separated or divorced, as are both of our parents. Also, your parents names should go before yours, not your name and 'daughter of.' If you are listing FH's parents, then after his name you put 'son of.'
