invitation wording question ...

invitation wording question ...

this weekend, FH and I are going to print our invitations ... does this wording sound right (note that my parents are divorced)

Sara S___ & David S___
and
Barbara & Ken R____

request the honour of your
presence at the marriage of
their children

Moran
&
Craig Elliot

on Sunday the Fifteenth of August
Two thousand ten
at ten thirty in the morning

Woodbury Country Club
884 Jericho Turnpike
Woodbury, NY 11797

Adult Reception to Follow

Questions:
- is it weird that i'm not writing 'mr & mrs ___' for my parents?
- do i need to write FH & my last names on there?
- i don't have a middle name ... should i take out FH's middle name, or write it?
- should I write Ken or Kenneth for FH's father's name?
- what words need to be capitalized?
- should i wrote 'honour' or 'honor' (british vs american spellings)?

thanks everyone

Re: invitation wording question ...

I think you should put titles for all parents

Ms. Sara Jones
Mr, David Jones
and
Mr. and Mrs.Ken Smith

(separate lines, mother first)

request he honoUr (if formal) of your presence and the marriage of their children

Moran Jones

and

Craig Smith

Re: invitation wording question ...

i'm just not a huge fan of 'mr and mrs ken jones' ... i feel it's a very sexist way of expressing who the woman is ... it makes it seem like the woman is nothing but her hubby.

i don't mind the titles, i just mind that the woman doesn't get her name in there.

i wouldn't mind something like
Mr Ken and Mrs Barbara R ... but that just sounds insanely stupid lol

alas (yes, i said alas, lol), if 'Barbara & Ken R' just doesn't sound right, then i'll go with 'Mr & Mrs Ken R' (but i wont' like it! lol)

I'm attaching a pic of mine. My parents are divorced, FH's are not, and they are all paying together. FH has a middle name, I do not have one.

Also, if you're not getting married in a church, *technically* you're not supposed to use 'honor of your presence.' For an RH ceremony, etiquette says to use 'request the pleasure of your company.'

Here's mine:

LOL... i understand if you dont want to be called that... but it might be just as insulting to her to not be called that as it is to you to be called that...

The thing is if you're putting both sets of parents, it's good to put who belongs to whom, although people should realize the rbie's family is first

Re: invitation wording question ...

I am with you 100% on the 'Mrs. and Mrs. Joe Smith' battle. 100%.

I usually put

Mr. and Mrs,. Joe and Jane Smith'

but for a wedding inviation the other way is more formal.

In the end it's up to you!
