invitation wording w/a deceased father

invitation wording w/a deceased father

yes i know.. a little morbid topic but i'm curious.

Normally invitations can say,

'Mr. & Mrs. blahblah blah cordially invite you...'

I have seen it once in awhile where it goes

'Mrs. blah blah & the late Mr. blah blah blah invite you to...'

has anyone heard of anything like this or would it just be..

'Mrs.. blah blah invites you'

thoughts?

(i'm big on using blah blah apparently. )

yeah.. the late is kind of weird.

this might be better...

'The honor of your presence is requested
at the wedding of
Adriana (middle name) (in a large font)
daughter of Mom and Dad's first names (smaller font)

to
Steve (middle name)
son of
Mom and Dad's first names'

I've seen it done and it was sooo wordy. If you really want to have his name on the invite instead of 'the late Mr. __ invite you', maybe you can say 'daughter of the late __' since a person who is deceased cannot invite anyone.

You' better off doing a memorial table for your dad.

According to etiquette rules, a deceased person cannot host a party, so therefore their names must be left off of invitations.
I agree. I left my mom's name off of the invite, it just seems awkward to mention the late so and so.

edited for spelling

I agree with the above if you want his name on there

My father is deceased, I left off ALL parent names.. so much easier.

FH's dad is deceased so I am using Mrs Leslie H. without his fathers name.

ITA - if the invite is just saying daughter of, or son of that is perfectly acceptable, after all your mother is your mother and your father is your father even if they should happen to be deceased and it's a lovely thought to honor them that way.
I don't think it is appropriate to say that they are hosting 'given by' ...that would be weird.

Would it sound weird or wordy to say:

'Mrs. blahblah blah, wife of the late Mr. blah blah cordially invite you...'

???

My father passed away as well - we ended up just having our names on the invite since we are hosting....but I think you can definitely put something like 'You are cordially invited to the wedding of

your name, daughter of MR & MRS ....

I included my stepfathers name like normal. In my circumstance though my stepfather just passed away a week ago and the invitations are already in production so it is kind of a different circumstance. HTH!
