Invitations

Do you think it is horrible if we do not have our parents names on our invitations. We are paying for the whole wedding ourselves...

Re: Invitations

we are not having our parents names on the invitations...FH & I are footing the entire bill...We told our parents & they understood completely...I always thought it was tradition for the parents names on the invites ONLY if they paid

Re: Invitations

thanks. That is what I though but FH wants his mom's name on the invite ( and I am less than best friends with her).

Re: Invitations

Our parents are helping with some costs.. but we have TOO many parents to put them all on the invite (isn't it great being kids of divorce!) .... So it will be just us

Re: Invitations

I don't think names on invitations should just be based on who is paying. My parents (gratefully) are footing the bill, and FH's parents are contributing anything. Our invites (at my dad's suggestion) will say:

Mr & Mrs Brides Parents
invite you to the wedding of (more formally than this obviously)
Bride
and
Groom
Son of Mr & Mrs FH Parents

Its just about recognizing the joining of two families, not an advertisement that we're being traditional and my parents are paying.

Re: Invitations

I think if your paying for the Wedding then your names should be on the invitations.

Re: Invitations

Apparently from what I've been reading about wedding etiquette, whoever is hosting the wedding are the ones whose names go on the invitation. Usually the 'hosts' are the people who are paying for it. Has anyone else seen articles to the same effect? Just wondering...
