ARE YOU PUTTING A EARLIER TIME ON THE INVITATIONS THAN THE ACTUALLY START TIME OF YOUR CEREMONY?

Re: INVITATIONS
I was thinking of doing that. How many mins would you do it if you did that? I was thinking maybe 15 min earlier.

Re: INVITATIONS
nope... it's on a Friday as it is and I actually want people to show up - if I put it any earlier, they'll skip it and only come to the reception.

Re: INVITATIONS
not sure...the whole thing is that there are guests who even arrive early and im thinking it might be unfair for them if they arrive at places early, meanwhile i gave an earlier time so they have even more to wait. I guess if ppl show up late they show up late, just gotta make sure they have someone who doesnt let them come in while im walking down the aisle lol, guess the DOC can do that

Re: INVITATIONS
The hall recommends we put 11 on the invitations, our ceremony starts at 11:30, we'll probably put down the earlier time. Some people expect that they can be late because the invitations is usually earlier than the actual starting time

this is my concern as well. My family is notoriously late for everything. I wanted to put a 15 minute buffer in there BUT since it's a friday i worry that people will just skip it then.

Re: INVITATIONS
that custom is usually for surprise parties, bc you want to guarantee the attendees arrive prior to the guest of honor. for weddings its not usual, your guests should know the importance of the occassion to you and your groom, if they are late it's really on them.
what i wrote- especially applies to a church ceremony...

I'm writing an earlier time. My family is notoriously late. Everywhere.

Re: INVITATIONS
I'm putting down a 1/2 hour earlier that the starting time. My wedding starts at noon and is only a half hour long ... I don't want people straggling in on Asian time!
But my reception hall does put out a small breakfast table before the ceremony, so even if people get there early, they can grab a cup of coffee and something to eat while they wait.

Re: INVITATIONS
This is how I look at it... if you are going to complain that you missed it then maybe you should have been on time. No buffer for the quests (maybe one for me) but people should be considerate and be on time. I know that I hate when I show up for a 3:00pm ceremony and it doesn't start till 3:30pm because by that time I have already been sitting there for almost an hour. You know if you were servicing cocktails and food at the ceremony then everyone would be on time.

Re: INVITATIONS
The good thing about our catering hall is we get a full hour for the ceremony
so my ceremony starts at 7pm but they do a preceremony hospitality so i will be putting 6:30pm on the invites
