Re: $$Invitations$$
You should shop around. It really depends on what you are getting. I got my pockets for a great price. I priced them out in many places and my coordinator from the RH was able to give me the best price so I went with her.

I paid $1,700 for mine.. I got 200 invites with self sealing envelopes, 200 response cards (self sealing as well) and 200 Reception cards. They were big invites 8x8 but they are gorgeous.. There are pcs in my album if you wanna peek... Good Luck!

Re: $$Invitations$$
I got: 175 tri-fold cards (standard size) with color ink, 175 addressed outer envelopes, 175 lined inner envelopes, 175 RSVP cards with color ink, 175 RSVP envelopes, 175 reception cards
I paid: about $400 for the entire package...I think that's a pretty good deal.
Also, by not doing a big size or square, and by not doing pocketfold invites, the postage for the invites is $0.59, so I saved even more $.

oh, by the way, if you're going to shop around, then go to Party City first to look at their books and make note of their prices (they give a 30% discount off the listed price). Then look for the same invites online to compare prices.

Re: $$Invitations$$
I had two coupons and ordered them from David's Bridal. I think they are very pretty and were under $200 for 100 including RSVP post cards which saved me on postage and no inner envelope is one little step for the environment. Hee hee.

I paid just under $500 for 150 gatefold invites with my envelopes and response envelopes addressed. I had them custom made through www.evenstarpaperie.com. Tessa is great and will work with any budget.

Re: $$Invitations$$
My DIY was a metallic pocketfold with 4 inserts and clear envelopes. The extra we spent on having square invites was erased by having a postcard RSVP. All told, about $450-$500. I think I made 150. Maybe 175.

I went through this last month so I know how you're feeling. We paid about $450 for 125 pocketfolds (including response cards/reception cards/accomodation cards). We also got 100 free shower thank you cards with our order.
We worked with a women who does this privately so we didn't pay tax or shipping. And she had TONS of invitations. FM me for details!

It depends what type of invite you are looking for....I got beautiful pocketfolds with ribbon which included 3 inserts, stamped RSVP envelope and all invites addressed for a great price and it is all personalized from beginning to end. She will design everything for you so you have a custom invite.
FM me if you want more info.

Re: $$Invitations$$
(I will reply even though I am an 09 bride because my wedding is early in the year)
I paid $500 for 75 invites, lined envelopes, RSVP cards. We could have gotten the price down to $350 by changing the type of paper, but we really liked the heavier feel and the embossing better. We also needed to add some Hebrew lettering so it added a bit for the artwork too. We also probably could have saved a bit more, but our invite vendor is also going to be a guest at the wedding and FMIL's best friend, so we feel like we are in good hands! (plus she made us cookies when we came over to choose invites haha).

check with tessa at evenstar - it can't hurt - she has been coming up with amazing, very personalized invites - its all custom so you design the invite with her - from the paper, to the graphic art, to the fonts, to the wording - all of it is at your discretion....she is making really pretty jacket invites for me with a ribbon and slide - there was no way i could have afforded them elsewhere - im getting a new pic soon (my rhinestone slides just came in) when i receive it i will post the photo

I did this as well, I ended up finding the exact same ones online for 100 cheaper and had them 3 days after ordering. But mine are simple invites.

Re: $$Invitations$$
it is hard to say because I think it depends on what you are getting. Like if they are printed a certain way (thermogrpahy, embossing) it could cost more. If you have someone do calligraphy- that will cost more etc. Personally I think they are important in letting the guests know how fancy or unfancy the event will be, but I think you can do this without spending a lot. Because they do get thrown away by 98% of the guests. Plus I feel like most people barely look at them. :( I got mine at weddinginvitationconsultants.com. I thought they were very nice looking, kind of fancy, but not insanely priced. And they were printed with thermogrpahy so it was a little nicer than just being flat on the page.

IMO and I'm being shot to death on here for it...
but here goes
anything is too much for invites, cause the only one who will really care about them is you, the rest of your guests are going to throw them out, or worse, like my sister vulgarly pointed out to me, they will tear a corner, fold it, and pick their teeth with it.
I actually paid to get one invite letterpresed for myself, because thats all I could think of.
My guests get cardstock printed on my home ink jet.
Now that its all said and done, I regret nothing.

You're right...a couple of months ago I was having dinner with a friend and mentioned how expensive the cost of invites are. I told her how much I paid for mine (which I think is on the lower end of the scale), and she almost fell out of her chair. She actually said, 'Wouldn't it be great if you could just send an e-vite to all your guests?' And she's right...it would be great because it's free and still conveys all the important information.
However, in the end this is your wedding and you're in control of what gets associated with your name. So, if you want to spend a lot on invites, then do it but do it with the understanding that you will not regret paying that much at a later date. If you're already skeptical of spending a lot on invites, then re-assess what you're looking for in an invite and shop around.
