Invitations, I'm so confused!

Hi 2007 Brides,

I really need advice from those that have picked their invitations already. I'm so lost!

My main questions:

Inner and Outer envelope!!

Did you get both, yes or no?

And why????

Thanks for the help!!

I haven't ordered my invitations yet but we have picked them out. I don't think we are having an inner envelope. I can't remember.

We're getting the both. The outer envelope has the formal name of who you're inviting.

Ex. Mr. & Mrs. Doe
123 Fake Street
Anywhere, New York 12345

The inner has the names of everyone in the household who is invited. So if Mr. & Mrs. Doe's kids are also invited the inner envelope would say

Mr. & Mrs. Doe, Ms. Sally Doe and Mr. Will Doe

the inner envelope is to protect the invitation if the outer one gets damaged. You also can put on that envelpe all the people that are invited, ie: if you are inviting children, their names don't go on the outer envelope, but go on the inner envelope.

Hope this helps.

Funny thing about that... When I was looking I assumed that all invitations had both, well they don't. The invitations I picked only have an outer envelope. It is a very hefty envelope and the invitation is very long so you are supposed to open it and take the invite directly out (like an announcement). The envelope is addressed and opened the long way instead of the short way.
When I asked about the inner they told me that high end invites often only have an outer. I didn't realize I was looking at high end invites but thats what they said.

To sum it up: I will only have the outer.

because of the way our invitations are....7' square with a side pocket. (hard to describe...u can see a pic of them in my community albums) we are NOT getting an inner envelope.

but most people do get inner envelopes, but it's totally up to you and the invitation type you have. many times ppl who get pocketfolds don't bother with an inner envelope, cause it's all contained in the pocketfold.

This is the exact reason we are doing inner envelopes -- so our guests will know exactly who is invited.

With pocketfolds it's not necessary to have both inner and outer envelopes. The actual pocketfold is considered to be the inner envelope.

With other types of invites, it's common to have both for the reasons expressed by the other posters.
