Invitations May 05 brides

Original post by DMcK

Have you ladies started looking at invitations? This is our next 'to do' - any vendor suggestions?

So what May girls need to get invites? Just curious... Also kinda wondering what's the next thing for everyone on their 'to do' list after invites. I feel like I have a million little things to start checking off the ol' list.

Well, the invites are sort of done. Sort of, because the Australian company that is designing them closed their office for a month and went on 'holiday!'

I knew this was going to happen, but we are close to be finished and now I have to wait a whole month to finish the design process and sign off on the final!

So since that is on hold, Jon and I are meeting with our priest next week and will try to book a limo company. We also need to find a tux place and I need to find shoes!

these are my invites - we ordered them three weeks ago and already got them - but they were wrong - so my mom called and complained and they are being reprinted now and should come soon.......

problem 1: the front of the invitations read

Jennifer & MIcheal

(yup - they had the first two letters of his name capitalized)

problem 2: we wanted our names inside to be script while the rest of the wording was reg type - they didnt do that

problem 3: the response card was printed in grey ink - everythign else is in black ink - they told us it could be that the ink was running out - if that was the case - wouldnt you print them again with some ink?

sounds like the company was a little sloppy but if they fix it, then more thier loss...hope round two turns out perfect for you!

you can do it! (can you hear the waterboy movie line in your head?!!)

are you clipping magazines with ones you like? it helped me to go back and look at the ones i liked from magazines and other brides to get an idea of the style i was looking for. also just going to the shops and flipping through books. helps too if you have those magic budget numbers in you head-that knocked out my first choice quickly-haha, and i moved on swiftly to my next few choices.

OH and don't worry, you're not behind, they can get here so quickly!

AND just to share! my girlfriend who was doing my whole BP's make-up just backed out...glad she told me now, and i'm not too mad but a little pissed she's been committed to do it since last may and now she tells me. ughhh...always SOMETHING!

Thanks - yes, love the Waterboy!

I actually replied to a post you had made because when I first signed up on LIW I saw your name and I thought 'did I write that?' - I still think it's me everytime I see your name. See, my name is Sasha and I am obsessed with the color blue and well, I'm a bride to be, so it was really confusing. My fi was watching over my shulder one day and asked 'is that your signon?' and I was like 'no' and he said, 'are you sure?' . So whenever I see your screen name I get happy. OK, so I'm the world's biggest dork, did I mention that?

And about the invites (the reason for your response) I thought I had 'the one' and got the sample last night but they are so not the ones. I wanted blue paper letterpress but they are so expensive and my budget is $250 for 50 invites with response cards and reception cards...so I'm having a hard time.

Good luck with your trials, I haven't done that either - everyone's booked for my date!

We finally ordered our invites!

They're everything I said I didn't want -- folded, with a ribbon, requiring extra postage and more than I wanted to spend.

But, I liked them in the store. whatever.

lilacwine - I love your invites! They are so attractive. Isn't it funny how we sometimes end up with something we swore we didn't like?

FH and FMIL just now decided that they don't like the invite wording and want to re-print some of them. Yes, FH and I discussed the invite wording ad nauseum before submitting the order.

The invites are in, folded and just a few addresses away from being stuffed.

Re: Invitations May 05 brides

Hmm, that's too bad that they waited until the last minute before deciding they didn't like the wording. Invites are a very complicated thing, IMO. Not an easy task to come up with the wording and figure out the etiquette regarding the addresses, etc. But you are almost there! Hang in there!!

If it makes you feel any better, I don't even have mine PRINTED yet. The Australian company is going to need a month to print and ship them to me. I will be stuffing envelopes for 24 hours straight to get them out the door by early to mid-March.

Me too!!

So far I have only seen the designs on a special website they have created for us! It has been very helpful but it can't compare to seeing things up close. So in a lot of ways I feel like I will be seeing them for the first time. We are only a week behind the schedule that they laid out for us - so far, I love everything they have done.

I just hope (as the saying goes) it looks as good on paper!

After a long weekend of ribbon tying, collating and stuffing, my invites are just about done!

I can't wait -- I'm sending the west coast guests' invitations today and the rest next week!
