I love my invitations - they are beautiful and I have received many compliments.. however I just realized that there is no time on there for the cocktail hour or reception. It says the ceremony is at 4 and reception to follow- but no time.. do you think this is a big deal? the invitations already went out!

And you didn't have a separate reception card in your envelope?

uhmmmm well its just that guests wont know what time to go to the reception, if the invite says reception to follow they might go straight there after. BUT what about people who dont attend the ceremony they wont really know what time to even get there. So wait did you have a reception card? did it say where your reception is at least. Can you call guests or quickly make up a reception card with the time and send it ASAP just something simple

Re: invitations problem?
I would definitely send out a second mailing with a little card that says the reception starts at 7 (the cocktail hour is part of the reception, you don't need to separate it out if you don't want to).
Alternately, you could call your RH and see if there's a place they can have ready for those guests, maybe with some champagne?
If the ceremony starts at 4, it'll be over around 5 - 5:30 i guess??? (if its a mass)
so if you allow travel time depending on how far the 2 places are ... they'd get to the RH around 6?
so its only an hour from 6 until when the cocktail hour starts at 7.

Yeah, you definitely have to spread the word. People need to know that there are 3 hours between the ceremony and the party; it'll probably influence what a lot of people wear to the church, some people will be hiring babysitters, etc. If you're not sending a separate mailing, you have to make sure to give everyone a phone call. Why don't you, FH, your parents, bridal party split phone duty? Then you can get them all done in a week. Good luck, and sorry!

well really and i mean REALLY make sure that every single guests will know. And make sure you tell them to write it down. I seriously had alot of ppl ask me almost every single time they say saw me 'so what time is the church again?' what time does reception start? some ppl i told them dozens of times.
Also at the ceremony you can tell people then and there but also theres people who dont attend the ceremony.

you dont have to wait until you get all your rsvps back. Many are late sending it and send even after RSVP. I would do it now if youre going to send a 2nd card. Bc if you wait for late RSVP'ers then you'll need to do this with just little time before your wedding and some like to plan in case they have a gap between ceremony and reception and also to get it out of the way since you'll have so many other things going on.

I don't think it has to be too formal either. Just a note you whip up on your computer. Or - ooh! - make a 'Wedding Newsletter' and put some other info on there... dinner choices, a cute story about how you and FH met, etc. And include the time of the reception on there as an FYI. Then no one will think you're a doofus for forgetting the time... they'll think you're really cute and clever and SuperBride for taking the time to make a newsletter on top of all the other stuff you have to do.

yeah i dont think it has to be formal or fancy either, just simple and easy enough so you can send right away. Dava's idea is great, and i also saw on here once an LIW bride did something very similar, she forgot to put something and wrote a note with it which was funny it was an 'oops' note

Re: invitations problem?
My reception invitation does not have a time. I think it's fine unless your having a 1-2 hour gap before your reception, in that case then you would need to let your guest know.
