Invitations? WHat do we need?
I had no idea that the invitation, response card, etc all came seperately. I don't even know what we need. Do we need everything? There are reception cards.. for??? Doesn't the reception info go on the invite? WHat exactly should I be buying? I am having ceremony and reception in seperate places and would assume people will send me back their response cards. WHat did you guys spend on average for all of this and who did you use? It looks like anything I do is going to be $400-$600. We are inviting 60 couples but I expect to need extras for B list invites. I figured I'd order around 80.

You can get invitations called snap 'n send or 3 in 1. They are the same thing, but it comes on 1 piece of paper and you can just tear away the edges and you get the 3 pieces without paying separately (it's perforated). We have just started looking and found those the cheaper option.

It depends on what you want on your invitations. The average package for the invitation are the invite, directions, & rsvp. I spent about $1200 for 150 invitations (that's including stamps) which included a invite with purple backing, directions & hotel accommodation, & rsvp card.If you want to save money, try making a website with all the information needed for the wedding & mention it in your invitations. Also you can save some money on stamps by asking your guests to rsvp by either text or on your website.

$1200!!! I thought $400 was a lot :(Does it seem modern or tacky to post the wedding website maybe on the reception card that way people can go to our website for directions. And honestly, most people have GPS these days so is it really necessary to print them out? If I have to I will of course.. just wanna get opinions ;)

If you put the ceremony address on the invitation and reception hall address on the reception card, I'd say skip directional cards. They're a nice touch if the hall gives them to you, but not necessary if you have to pay to have them printed. If you're sending/sent out Save the Dates, that was really the time to send out the wedding website info. I, personally, wouldn't put the wedding website info on the invitation.Check out Invitations by Dawn. You can order free samples, and they do have the 3-in-1 option. They also always run sales and are a more cost effective option. You definitely don't have to spend $$$$ on invitations.

I spent about $350 totally using magnetstreet and I got 125 invitations, invitation envelopes, response cards and response card envelopes. They were great and we were able to totally customize our invites. When I stuffed them I also added in the hotel information and the direction card for my venue. We didn't go too crazy with added stuff, just the essentials.

I didn't do direction cards- I put the address for the church on the invite and the address for the reception on the reception card. Typically, people have an invite with the ceremony info on it (if ceremony is in another location from reception), and then a separate card for the reception, then another card with hotel info if you're blocking off rooms, and the RSVP card.... Most people at least have the RSVP and invite, and if their reception is at the same place as the ceremony, it says 'reception immediately following' underneath the ceremony info on the invite.
So, if you want to save $$, I would do an invite with the ceremony info/address on it, an RSVP card, and a card with hotel and reception info both on it so that you can save money on an extra card :)
You can check out WhimseyBdesigns on etsy (alot of girls talk about her on here because her prices are pretty good), or just look around minted, wedding paper divas, and all of those other sites when they have sales going on. Also, you can make invites on the David's bridal website

I would look into PDF invitations! You just give your info and they design your invite and send you a PDF so that you can print them yourself! I found plenty of these on etsy. My invites are in my album. We got the envelopes from cardsandpockets.com. I think we spent under $300 in total!

Re: Invitations? WHat do we need?
I put the church and reception information on one card.I used the direction card the reception hall provided.
I bought card stock (100 sheets for less than $5 and a paper cutter at Michaels (about $10 with 40% coupon). Cut the paper into 4's and printed my own direction cards to the church and hotel block. The color of the paper was slightly off but the size was the same.
Another way to save money is to have the RSVP as a postcard. You save money on the stamp and you don't need the envelope.

Yea the invitations were my one splurge on my wedding. I had a to of extra stuff added to it to make it $1200.
Having a website on the reception card is not tacky at all. I feel like it's another way of them getting the information. Sometimes the website would have more info on the wedding than the actual invitation would. I have it on my invitations cause a good portion of my guests are tech savvy & wanted the site saved on their phones.

Retail Me Not is a great resource to use whenever you order anything online. I saved almost $100 off my invites from magnetstreet using a coupon from there!

FH and I spent $30 on 100 invitations which included reply cards and envelopes. Had a 55% off coupon for AC Moore, bought 2 packages of 50 count invites, replys and envelopes, and printed 2 coupons.Printed all the stuff out on our printers with the help of the website on the invite box, came out Great.
Good luck planning, enjoy the journey.
