Invitations/Programs- colors?

Invitations/Programs- colors?

If you went with any colors on your invitations, how did you pick the color? I seem to think that I need to match something, like the bridesmaid dresses or the flowers or something. What do you think? Or is it okay to have say blue invites and then never use blue at all at the wedding?

My bridesmaids dresses are champagne and I am making my invitations so I am sticking with the champagne color for my invitations. But I don't think you have to match your invitations to anything, it's a personal preference. My FSIL didn't match her invitations to anything and neither did my friend so it's whatever you want. HTH!!

Eh, I'm not one for matchy-matchy things, but I say if that's what you like, then go for the same colors. It's your day, so it's your way!!!!

My invites are ivory. They don't match anything. The programs, my dress, flowers etc are all white. FH fell in love with the invite so we went with it. I did however get the liner for the inner envelope in the same color as the girls' dresses - but only because I'm anal (and so is FH) and we wanted to tie the invites in somehow.

My dress is ivory as well as the FG. I decided to go with the ivory theme. But that's me. There is no real rule (or is there?). It's up to your own preference. You can match them or not to whatever color theme you want.

I went white and silver for my invites. It's classic, simple and I don't have to worry about finding the sage color that the girls are wearing or the pink color that the flowers are.

My invites are green - our flowers will be green, blue and white. I'd go with a neutral color or a color that is being used somewhere else - like the flowers or bm dresses.

i don't see anything wrong with using blue in your invites and not using blue anywhere else. As long as you like the invites!

Well let me explain what I did...my invtes were Ecru (ivory) with gold lettering. Every other detail about my wedding is either pink and or burgundy. So if you are asking if they need to match, I say no.

I wanted green in the invites but we couldn't agree on any of them. Finally we saw one in blue and one in lavendar that we liked, and choose the lavendar because it's my second favorite color.

The stamps turned out to match the invites, and we decided to stick with the color for favors, ribbons, placecards, and menus.

But we didn't have that in mind the whole time, it's just a nice color that we both agree on.

There's no rules on matching, you can do whatever you want!

I want invitations with color. I'd like to have some sort of fall tone to blend in with the fall colors of the BM's dresses and the flowers, but I wouldn't say it's absolutely necessary.

There are no rules!

I had ecru colored invites, with brown lettering and the envelopes were lined with brown which was the color of my BM dresses.

People still tell us how gorgeous our invites were.

I matched my invites with my programs and menus. They were all the same shade of purple. My BM dresses were a darker purple. My main color theme was a dark purple with lighter accents. You can see pics in my review.
