invite etiquette

invite etiquette

Hi ladies,

I'm having a problem. I realized my FH and I underestimated the size of our families and now as we try to finalize the invitation we're forced to cut so many people.

I have a question about etiquette. If you were invited to some friends' weddings say two years ago but you speak to them once or twice a year, are you obligated to invite them?

My FH says yes, especially since we knew them from when we first started dating,; I'm hoping no though I would ultimately like them there.

Why don't you put them on a 'B' list option? That's what we have to do unfortunately. Can't invite everyone and we already have a list of 289 people!!!
Some people I barely see and when I do its for birthdays or an occasional get together, those people will be on our B list.

No, you're not obligated to invite anyone. And dont feel bad either...if you cant, you just cant.
FH and I arent inviting 2 friends of ours who introduced us in high school. We rarely talk to them anymore and our list has just gotten too big. I would say if you're having trouble with your list, only invite the people that you really want to be there and share in your day. You can also make a 'B' list for those others that you would like to be there if you end up having room.

the 'List B' option might be the way to go.

remember, not everyone can rsvp yes.

good luck

Re: invite etiquette

i don't think you have to invite them, but i just wanted to let you know what happened to us. we were thinking of doing a 'b list' and decided not to.

we didn't get many rsvps that said 'unable to attend' until right before the rsvp date. in the beginning we got all yes's and in the end we got a lot of no's. i don't know how we would have done a b list since people who weren't coming didn't tell us until the end. i thought it was rude to send an invite out after the rsvp date on the card.

everyone's rsvp experience is different, good luck.
