Invite Opinion- this is NOT to start drama lol

Really, I just want to hear your opinions, ok!!

my stepmom said that she likes very formal invites and she thinks that ones that have a lot of color and designs on them look informal. I have seen a lot of your invites and dont think they look informal at ALL.

what does everyone else think? when i think of wedding invites, i just think of a plain old ivory card with tissue paper (or whatever u call that insert that i have no idea what its for). But I'm changing my mind. LIW is too much for me, Im going to go broke with all these great ideas u ladies have!
TIA

The style of wedding invites has really changed from the typical 'tissue paper included' invite. I say go for what you like the best and dont let anybody sway your opinion on it....If you like the simple invite go for it, if you like the more modern look go in that direction. You can pretty much do whatever you want to...there are no rules!!

I think invites have changed A LOT in the last couple years alone...They are your invites, you do what you want

I also say go for what you like not what everyone else believes. Recently a friend said to me 'you know, your invitation sets the tone of you wedding' I had no response because she might be right, anyway my invitation will end up being whatever I want. It is your day do what makes you happy not others.

everyone's taste is different. It all just depends on what you want to do and what kind of wedding you are looking to have.

I think it is all personal preference... You saw mine... they are NOT the norm. However, they are ME, and my FH.... we love them and that's all that really matters.

IMO you want an invite that makes a statement and sets the tone for your wedding. If you are going to an elegent black tie affair then usually invites are more the classy traditional style. It really depends on what you want your guests to think of yuor wedding.

For me, I want them to think.. WOW this is totally Shauna (and Matt)! which when I posted my pic, my cousin (laurenandmike618) said exactly that, that it was so 'me'.... That was all the compliment I needed

I think its a personal preference. I think I am am keeping with the simpler but jazzing mine up and I must have a pocketfold, I am obsessed with those.

mine are so not fancy... they are beautfil, but simple. We didn't want bows and crystals, its just not us. Its up to you what you and ur fh want for your invites. I feel personally like people just toss then, so why spend alot. I spent a lot less then most because Fh's friend owns a printing company.

Weddings in general have come a loooooooong way. There are so many ways to throw tradition to the side and do your own thing (Thank goodness!). If you want some flashy, colorful invites, go for it! I think they still look elegant in a whimsical sort of way! Don't let outdated mindsets sway your decision. The new rule is there are no rules!

I understand where you are coming from. FH does not want any color/bows/pockets etc on our invites. He wants the standard invitation because in his opinion in it more formal. I am a little torn on the idea because I want a traditional simple invite but I want to add a bow or somethign around it to make it a little modern. I had a friend do a very traditional invite and then had a beautiful green tool bow around it. It was really well done.
