Invite Questions

I'm clueless when it come to invites!! What is the purpose of an inner envelope? Do most people order these?
Also, what is normally put on the reception card? We're having the ceremony at RH. Would I even need this?

Re: Invite Questions

I blieve the idea of the inner envelope came from wayyy back in the day that was used so that the 'lower classes' coulndt see through the envelope... thought i read that somewhere maybe i'm wrong... I think today people still use it just for 'more protection' in case of damage to the invite and some still do it b/c they think its 'necessary' imo, its not neccessary whatsoever... its overkill... and a waste of $$$$

dont bother using a RH card if you're having both at the same place.. not necessary! people will get the drift or just put on the invitation 'reception to immediately follow'

Re: Invite Questions

Purpose of the inner envelope is to protect the invitation, also to specify who is invited. Let's say you are inviting a single friend but are inviting him w/guest. You would put just his name on the outer envelope and on the inner put his name & guest (or the guest's name if you know it). If you're inviting an entire family, you'd put the The XYZ Family on the outer and put X, Y , little x and little y on the inner. It's not necessary, just an added touch that alot of ppl do, so it makes it seem necessary. If the invitation you pick though has any sort of adornment on it, you may want to do an inner envelope so like I said before, it won't be damaged when it goes through the postal machines.

If you're getting married at the RH (I am too) then no, you don't need a reception card. At the bottom of the invitation you put Reception Immediately Following, or Reception to Follow, or Celebration to Follow.
