My parents paid for the limos, half the hall, and bought my dress. Everything else is funded by myself and FH. FHs parents are not contributing. They have the means to contribute something, but they have not, and don't seem to plan on it. What do you think would be the best way to word the invitation?
How do you word it when one set of parents pays some and the other set doesn't seem to want to even be involved at all (getting a guest list took several months)? I don't care for 'Together with our parents'...

Re: Invite wording
Personally I would ask the invitation consultant when FH is there. Let her tell you the proper wording so he understands that you are following tradition and then if he doesn't like that deal it with it from there

Re: Invite wording
There are sooooooo many variations on wording. I looked at invitations already and there's over 20 ways of wording it.
Its a little crazy, but i'm sure you'll find something that suits your situation.
I agree. talk with the person who's doing your invitations.

Re: Invite wording
UGH! can be a touchy subject, when my brother got married he and his bride paid for everything, but she insisted on wording it that HER mother was invitiing everyone (traditional wording - made it sound like her mother paid for the whole thing!) some folks put the bride and grooms name then together with their parents. I guess the invitation specialist would know best

Re: Invite wording
the sure fire way would be to put 'together with our parents' it would look really bad, and like one set of parents don't approve of the the wedding if you were to only put one set of parent names in the invite.

Re: Invite wording
We went with very traditional wording although we paid for the majority of our wedding ourselves. Here is the sample we used: Mr. and Mrs. XX request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter Sophie Lynn to Jeffrey Matthew son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Lautrec Saturday, the eighth of March two thousand fourteen at two o'clock in the afternoon Fox Green Country Club 2621 Hunter Avenue Atlanta, Georgia

Re: Invite wording
I'm using
Together with their families
Amy & FH
invite you to ...
My dad is helping a little, and my mom bought my dress. FH's family can't afford to contribute right now, but I felt bad singling them out, because if they could, they would help.

Re: Invite wording
I think if I were in the parental party that was contributing financially, I would not like the wording 'together with our/their parents' because I would feel that the parents who are not paying were getting equal footing and I don't think that's right.
You could put a 'son of' just to throw in a bone and not get yourself or your fiance in trouble with his family. That is what we did, because my family paid for the majority, my husband contributed, and his family did not pay squat. Even today I am still resentful of that, and I feel for you.
It may be OT but I heard with a Jewish wedding invitation you are suppose to list all of the parents regardless of who paid.

We did the same thing - I really just like the way it sounds better - more traditional, etc. It doesn't bother me if people think my parents paid and I didn't.

Re: Invite wording
we also went the more traditional route....
Mr. & Mrs. ____ request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter
H to G
Son of Mr. & Mrs. _______
My parents are paying for the hall, FH and I are paying for everything else, but his parents are giving us a very large downpayment for a home.....even if they weren't, I would still want their names in their anyway. JMO
