Re: INVITE WORDING FOR A SPLIT FAMILY ON BOTH SIDES
Okay, I just did this and it was NUTS!!
First, I felt since my dad is really paying he and his new wife should be on the invite, but then how do I not put my mom on? So I call my mom and she says 'Well if HER name is on it, thats not right, I should be on it, too, I'm your mother!!' So I call my dad and he says 'Whatever you want to do honey (Thank God for my dad)' so then FH decides he wants HIS parents on it, so I said, Thats Nuts!! What a mouthfull:
Mr. and Mrs. Tom and Mary Smith and Miss. Jane Smith (my mom KEPT my dads last name) along with Miss Beth Jones and Mr. Joe Brown (his parents are divorced.)
well that didn't work, so we did
Mr. and Mrs. Bobby and Betty smith and Miss. Gina Smith invite you to the wedding of their daughter Eleanor Susan to Matthew Peter Brown SON OF Miss. Tilly Green and Mr. John Brown
oh, it's still nuts, but everyones happy!! I really wanted to do 'Together with their parents' BUT I didn't feel right not putting my dads name on it!!
ETA: The reason Matts last name appears on the invite is because, his parents have different last names, so it is unclear wich on is his!! HTH!!

This is what we did. My parents are separated and neither remarried.
His parents are divorced and father is remarried.
It was just so much easier to do this
Together with their parents xxx and xxx request the honour of your presence at their marriage on Saturday, the third of September Two thousand and five at three o'clock in the afternoon Church of Saint Joseph 39 North Carll Ave Babylon, New York

good idea, I've also seen the family of BRIDE, and the family of GROOM. we may do that because FH's parents are still married. my parents are divorced and my mother is remarried. I hate to say this but I don't want my mother's husbands last name on the invite. They were just married 5 years ago so a lot of people on my fathers side are going to be like, who is this? Very annoying.

I don't even wanna think about my invites....My parents are divorced and my dad is remarried. I really don't like my stepmother and would rather not have her name on it, and FH's parents are not contributing a dime to our wedding (my dad is helping), so I'm not thrilled about having their names on it.....I guess I'll have to cross that bridge when I get to it....UGH XOXOXOXO Kitty
