invite wording. help.

invite wording. help.

Been thinking about this for a while now and because my mind is all about invites today, I thought I would ask you girls.

My parents are paying for my wedding - everything except the band, which is being paid for by FH's parents. I know my parents' names need to be at the top of the invite, but I want to give FH's parents credit too.

Should it be

Mr. and Mrs. T. B.
and
Mr. and Mrs. G. B.

invite you to share in their joy
at the wedding of their children

jenn
and
matt

?

I feel like if I have my parents at the top and have 'son of mr. and mrs. g. b.' after FH's name isn't enough, because the band is pricey. HOWEVER I think my mom is going to have problems with their names being at the top too because my parents are paying probably 4x the $$ they are.

HELP! Do I have any other choices??

This is how we did ours

Mr. & Mrs( My parents name)
request teh presence of your honour as their daughter ( your full name) gives her hand in marriage to ( your fh name) son of ( Fh's parents name) on...( put your wedding date here)

Thought that wording was good!!!

Re: invite wording. help.

I would put their names on the bottom after you and FH

As son of M&M

I dont think there is anything wrong with that. You technically dont even need to put anyones name on the invites but your own

Yesterday someone posted verseit.com. They have a lot of different verses for the invitation. You should be able to find something there.

What if you put:

Brides name, daugther of
Mr. & Mrs xxx

and

Groom, son of
Mr. & Mrs. xxx

invite you to share in their joy
at the wedding of their children

I'm in the same boat, my parents are paying a lot more than FH's parents, but we went with putting both sets of parents' names at the top to be fair to both.

There's no easy way out of this, and if your mom is upset, ask her how she would feel if she were paying for something and didn't have her name at the top.

I like the example you gave. that's how we did ours and my parents are paying for the entire reception, fh's parents are only paying for the limos! I don't think it matters who pays for what and how they go on the invite. JMO

here's my suggestion, in your case, i wouldn't go by who's paying more (bc that opens a can of worms with fams)...i would go by card etiquette...the bride's parents first...the bride's name first on both...hth...

I like that, but it doesn't imply that my parents are hosting. I mean, i guess both are, but technically, my parents are because they are paying for the reception hall (in addition to the flowers, limo, photog, etc). I think my parents will be offended if they are not listed as the hosts. But I will consider that, thanks, and I will look at verseit!

See, if it were just limos, I would put their names after FH's. But it's a few thousand for the band ... my limo is not expensive since we only have a drop off / pick up - not sure how much yours are ...

Good thinking

I mean, my mom isn't the type of person to be flashy and say, 'I paid for all of this, isn't it nice?' So it's strange to me that she is thinking about it ... but maybe she just wants people to know who to thank?? No idea.

also, when & if someone asked you shrug off, and mention nothing to do with 4, i went by card etiquette

Oh, I understand. I'm sorry, I thought you were trying to find a neutral ground. Yes, check on that website. I know what you're saying though...touchy situation. You're welcome.

Re: invite wording. help.

i did it the traditional way, my moms name, then me and FH and then his parents (son of...)
FH's parents are paying for the photo/video, but i hadn't even thought about the fact that they are paying a few thousand. i just did it the way i thought was traditional. at least their names are on it.

I had the exact same dilemma. Mom was paying twice what FHs parents were paying. We paid as much as mom.

We did it this way too:
Mrs. My Mom
and
Mr. and Mrs. His Parents

invite you to share in their joy
at the wedding of their children

I think I remember this. Didn't you want 'together with our families' but your mom (or Fh?) didn't?

I think this is what I will do in the end ... hope my mom sees it my way ... Is this when the fun begins, folks???

No worries! I did find some nice ones on verseit, where the names of the hosting parties are at the bottom - I think that makes it CLEAR who's hosting and in what order. At the top, it could just mean who is inviting ... i like this:

Please join our families
on this special occasion
when our children
BRIDE
and
GROOM
will be married
on DAY
YEAR
at TIME
LOCATION
ADDRESS
CITY, STATE

BRIDE'S PARENTS
GROOM'S PARENTS

But I may go with the more traditional ... just talking it out made some things clearer to me, thanks to all!

I wanted 'together...' yes.

Both FH and mom didn't.

It caused a LOT of tension between me and FH. It still makes me angry.
