Invite wording listing us & both parents???

What are you using for your invite wording if we are paying, but both sets of parents (still married) want to be listed on the invitation?

We are also getting married at the hall.

TIA!

This is what our invites looked like (my parents are also divorced):

John Doe
Jane Doe
Jack and Jill Smith
Would be honored to share with you
the joyous occassion of the marriage of their children

Bride and Groom

Doesn't that imply that both sets of parents are paying? We need something that 'implies' the bride and groom are paying...

I just did::

Mr. & Mrs. Bride's Parents
and
Mr. & Mrs. Groom's Parents
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their children
Bride's Name
and
Groom's Name

We all really chipped in. Our parents paid for the bulk.

But IMO, I don't think it really matters what the invitation implies. Even we did pay for the entire wedding, we still would have honored our parents by putting them on the invitation. But again, that just my opinion.

You are right. I guess not everyone thinks like us brides-- do you think people will say -- well, since the parents names are first, they must have paid? I guess i'm nuts, cause that thought actually runs through my mind, but then again, does it matter who paid?? What do you think? :)

Some people do:

Brides name
&
Grooms name

together with their parents...

My thought is that nobody is going to look at the invite and wonder who is paying for the wedding. And besides... It's nobody's business but the bride and groom and their parents! We got so many compliments on our invites. People actually commented on how beautiful they were when they sent back their RSVPs.

As a side note, my mother did not lay out any $$ for the wedding other than the cost of my dress. My father and step-mother along with my IL's paid for the wedding. There would have been MAJOR issues if we had left her off the invite.

Invitations supply NO info as to who's paying. It's no ones business anyway. All the choices here are good ones.

Ha, my Mom feels the same way. but, my mom's help was worth more than the price of the wedding, as i'm sure you agree. Ok, i'll just concentrate on the invitation, not so much the wording. Thanks for your advice.. .

I agree, I don't think it matters how the invite is worded. We wanted to name our parents on the invite out of respect, regardless if they contributed to the cost of the wedding or not. I don't think anyone will notice how it's written, no worries.

Brides name
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
and
Grooms name
Son of Mr. and Mrs.
on Sunday, April 2, 2006
at six o'clock in the evening at the
Chateau Briand
address.
