Re: invite wording qs
found this online for you:
Hyphenate all compound numbers from twenty-one through ninety-nine. Examples: Forty-three people were injured in the train wreck. Twenty-three of them were hospitalized.

Re: invite wording qs
thanks. i called my invite company because when i ordered i simply chose my date from an actual little calendar and the site would write it out for me (invites were ordered online) and they did not hyphenate the date. i called them and they said that it is not proper etiquette to hyphenate. i dunno, i'm confused. i just got an invite from someone else and they hyphenated.

i think it is proper to hyphenate it. I did on mine too..but i dont think anyone would really scrutinize it, or even notice.. unless they are an english teacher

Re: invite wording qs
i dont know what to do. they are telling me i can return them and they will reship with a hyphen even though according to their 'editor' it shouldn't be hyphenated (although their site shows examples with hyphens.) They will not pay for me to ship the invites back to them, which i think is BS since it wasn't my mistake. They continue to claim it's not a mistake and simply a preference, but every site i've looked at online shows a hyphen.

Re: invite wording qs
I'm Dec. 27th and I didn't hyphenate. I was told it wasn't correct so I left it without hyphenating.
Honestly I don't think anyone will notice.
DOn't stress too much over this

Re: invite wording qs
thanks for the info date twin! i honestly don't really care too much, but FMIL is such a stickler for this stuff, she has an etiquette book that she whipped out as soon as we got engaged and has been giving me advice from her 'book'. lets just hope her etiquette book agrees with no hyphen, otherwise i'm gonna hear it....

tell FMIL to relax... she needs to know there are 100 more important things to worry about than a hyphen. Good luck, and I am sure your invites will look beautiful!!!

Couldn't have put it better. Trust me...nobody will be looking for a hyphen and when the wedding is done most of our invites will be thrown out...and not one person will remember that there is no hyphen.

Re: invite wording qs
i used it because that's what i found was 'proper' but u always find conflicting info so who knows what is reaaly 'correct'...
i wouldn't worry about it though. as long as the info is correct that's all that matters.
if your fmil says anything just say its what the printer and editor told u...she can argue with them if she wants
