Re: invite wording question?!

u could do together with our parents..or.

since your parents are paying for 85%, i would just use yoru parents;
Mr & Mrs smith request the honour of your presence at the marriage of their daughter

angela to
Nicholas,
Son of Mr & mrs smith..
You dont even have to put the son of mr & mrs smith part on..

Re: invite wording question?!

I never understood why who pays made a difference... FH and I are paying for most of the wedding ourselves, yet we wrote is as if both of our parents were hosting...

If it is touchy, then together with your parents is probably the best option

i think to keep the peace if you have one parents names--u gotta have both. you can do it the way the 2nd poster said. for us--i did NOT want FIL's names on the invite--so we decided on just 'Together with our parents'. i think parents names are an all or nothing thing.

My FH's parents don't have much money but I know if they did they would contribute more. I think just to be nice put both parents names down. They might repay you with babysitting in the future

You don't have to. You can do just your parents since they haven't helped....or avoid the issue and use 'together with their parents/families' or 'the parents of...'

but you absolutely don't HAVE to put them on if they haven't helped out at all. we actually did use all of them anyway, but these days, it's just another option.

Re: invite wording question?!

According to my little wedding etiquette guide 'the invitation needs to convey who is hosting, the formality of the affair, and its time, date and location.

Specific needs:

When the bride's parents are hosting
Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Rogers
request the honour of your presence
at the marriage of their daughter
Elizabeth Jane
to
Gary James Michaels
at half past three o'clock
Holy Church
Anytown, USA'

I'm in the same situtation, His parents have not even gotten us an engagment gift and my parents are paying for the recpetion and a lot of other thinsg. Plus his parents are insisting we invute 50 people i have not even heard of before. My parents will be on the invite and his will not be.....no way in hell!
