invite wording question

invite wording question

my parents are paying for the majority of the wedding(RH and church) but FH's parents have contributed a few thousand. We are also going to be paying for a decent amount ourselves, probably similar to his parents. So my question is, how do we deal with this on the invites? I would like people to know my parents are really giving the wedding (not only paying half)and contributing the large majority but I also dont want to disrespect FIL's.

Do I need to write my invites as Mr. and mrs. brides parents together with mr. and mrs grooms parents request blah blah....?

or do you think it is acceptable to just say mr and and mrs brides parents request..... followed by my name and FH's name, son of mr. and mrs grooms parents.

this is the stuff that drives me crazy!!

BTW- FH and I do not think it is necessary for us to be included as the hosts.

Mine say my parents together with his parents.......

My parents are paying for the wedding itself, but FIL's are paying for RD, HM, and a hospitality suite during the break between the ceremony and CH. They are going above and beyond what we would ever ask, so we felt it was only right to have them on the invite. I'm just not a fan of the 'son of' part...a lot of girls do it, I just personally don't like it.

Re: invite wording question

We are paying for the wedding ourselves and just asked that both sets of parents contribute whatever they feel is appropriate as a wedding gift. My parents paid for engagement party and FH's parents are paying for the RD. We are having both sets of parents on the invitation, mine listed first 'Mr and Mrs. Bride's Parents and Mr. and Mr. and Mrs. Groom's Parents Request the Honour of Your Presence...'

We are using the 'son of' option

I was debating this myself. I am not sure what I am going to do. Would love to hear more opinions!

we have a similar situation. we are paying for it ourselves, but welcome gifts lol

we will either do this or have something generic with our names. and then under our names 'daughter of fhsdkjfdhsfj' and 'son of jdkhfdskjfhksdh' in smaller type font

Your situation sounds similar to mine in where my parents are paying for the vast majority, though FH's family and us are contributing as well. We have the wording with our parents as hosts (what's right is right, they are paying for probably a good 80% of the wedding), but after the groom's name, we're putting 'son of ___' as a way to include his parents. It's up to you, your parents, and what the breakdown is.

yeah this sounds about the same! i do feel it is right if they are giving 80%, they technically are the hosts, i just dont want to offend FIL's. I guess I could ask them but that would probably make it even weirder, but if I just make them up on my own and dont include them will they be thinking I should have? argh!
