ok ladies. I am sure there are other threads about this, but I am curious, especially for those paying for the wedding themselves, how you are wording this?

I have no idea what to write. FH said to write

hey, we're getting married. please come, but not empty handed!

he's such a boy!

I think you put your name and his name or together with our parents (blah, blah)

FI did not want to put together with our parents because we are paying for this 100%.

request the honour of your presence
as they are joined in marriage
under the chupah

We're paying. We'll be going with just our names on the invites, no mention of 'together with parents' etc. Still looking for sample invitation wording, where's the best place to find this if anyone knows?

thx

Same with us. It will just be:
Michele Smith
and
Anthony Jones
request the honour of your presence......

Ms. Jane Doe
and
Mr. John Shmoe
invite you to share in the joy
of the beginning of their new life together
as they exchange marriage vows
on DAY of DATE of MONTH
YEAR
at TIME
Place, STATE

or

Ms. Jane Doe
and Mr. John
invite you to share in
the joy of their marriage

We are paying, but we still put 'together with our a parents,' because they are helping us host. It is a matter of preferance really.

This is what we are doing, possibly with a quote on top:

C J B
and
ALW
request the pleasure of your company
at their marriage
on Saturday, the eighth of April
Two thousand and six
at six o’clock
Hamlet Willow Creek
Mt. Sinai, New York
Reception immediately following

and the reason why it says pleasure of your company instead of requests the honour of your presence is because we are getting married at the hall, not in a place of worship (that is what the invite etiquitte said to do)

i think it depends on what you prefer... we paid for most of our wedding, and we just put our names- no mention of the parents, just because we wanted to keep the invitation simple...
now, i know some parents get weird about it and want to be ackknowledged on the invite, even if they aren't paying. so i would think about that too...the whole 'together with their parents' thing seems to be a good compromise good luck!

We are paying for the wedding 100%, so we are doing

Two lives, two hearts
joined together in friendship
united forever in love
It is with joy that we,
Kristen Marie
and
Jason Robert
invite you to share
in a celebration of love
as we exchange our marriage vows

Me and future husband are paying most on our own (with some help from the parents)

We worded ours

Kevin
and
Stephanie

Along with our parents,
Invite you.......
