Invited without guest, responds for 2- do I say something?
Just got my first one. Someone was invited without a guest, but responded that they are coming and bringing a date. Do I say something, or just let it go? What did everyone else do...I know that I've seen some things on this subject posted recently.

i invited my cousin with a guest and he responded with him and his two sons that he just adopted (under the age of 13). It was hard, but i had to call him and tell him that kids weren't invited to the wedding. He understood. HTH!

it depends why you didnt invite the guest with a date.
do you need to keep your #s down? did you not know the guest was seeing someone? if you dont care if they bring the guest then just let it slide. if you are worried about #s, you can call your friend and say that you need to wait for more RSVPs before you will know if there is room for the date, but you will let them know.

I would just call and say:
Hi! Thank you so much for your quick response. Unfortunatly we are only able to invite everyone solo. Sorry for the inconvienence, but i look forward to seeing you there!

I'm inclined to let it go, but its more the principle. Its not someone I'm especially close with, I dont even know if she's dating someone. Plus I didnt invite any other singles with guests, so I'd be uncomfortable if other people found out.

Then you really should call her - esp since you didnt invite anyone with guests and if you would feel uncomfy - its really not something you should let go - just keep it short and simple i posted something before - but if thats how ur feeling, u really should call.

yea if you didnt invite even your other friends with guests i would def say something. Because you know someone you are closer to will be offended that she got invited with a guest and not her. UGH drama ..how annoying

I agree. If none of the other singles got to bring a date, then thats the rule. You can't start making exceptions b/c then everyone will want to bring one.

Ugh this is one of my fears. I have single friends I was planning on inviting solo but they are already talking about who they are bringing... one even already asked someone! I guess it's going to depend on how many people RSVP... for me it's going to come down to a number.
It's in no way easy to deal with I'm sure. I don't envy your position but I do think you should say something... I think we all know weddings are EXPEN$IVE!!

I agree completely and had to deal the very same problem. I ended up calling the girl up and told her she couldn't bring her guest. She wasn't dating someone when I sent out the invites and that her new bf wasn't in my plans.

I would first try to feel out (from another friend or relative) if this person is actually engaged or living with this extra guest (we are not inviting any 'singles' with guests UNLESS they are already engaged, have been in a serious relationship for a long time - like several years - or are living together). If yes, I might let them stay. But if not, just call them up and be honest.

considering your circumstances I would contact the person and politely tell them unfortunately you could not invite everyone with a guest- also to ease any awkwardness you can say if anything changes I will keep you posted and you can bring your guest- people just to dont understand sometimes

true! and its not the best idea to feel things out , bc people take what u say and will twist it - and ull sit there worrying abot whether you can accomidate their guest
and im sure she isnt the only one who will do that - so make it easier on yourself and just call her

Re: Invited without guest, responds for 2- do I say something?
I dont know...the more I think about it, the more I think I'm just going to let it go. I'm a big proponent of picking my battles, and I just dont think this one is worth fighting. I'm not sure what it would accomplish, except creating awkwardness and animosity before the wedding. Its not like we have a problem with our numbers...we actually have a lot less than we thought we were going to, so we could easily include one more. She will be at my shower on Sunday, so maybe I could just say something like 'Oh, I didnt know you were dating someone?' or somethink like that.
