Invites and addresses...HELP!

How did you all print the guest's addresses on invites? I cannot afford a calligrapher. I'm thinking of clear labels, which may be cheesy. I'm also considering just printing directly on the envelope, but I have an inkjet printer at home, and laser would be best. Has anyone gone to Kinko's to do this? How much was it?

Invites and addresses...HELP!

My future mother in law has really nice handwriting, so wrote them all out in script. They looked really beautiful and added a personal touch because they were handwritten. If someone in your family has a good handwriting maybe you could ask them!

Invites and addresses...HELP!

we laser printed directly on the envelope. They came out great. I called Kinko's but they said they don't offer that service (at least not by me).

Have an invitation party

Tell your friends to bring a few good hand writing friends and have them help out. We are having ours done by someone.

Addressing Invites on Laser Printers...

Last year, I planned to use a laser printer to address my invites. I did not want to go through the expense of a calligrapher, since the invites were expensive. When the invites arrived, I discovered that the envelopes wouldn't fit in the printer b/c the paper was too thick (I got what I paid for w/higher quality invites!) We even tried to use the heavy-duty office printer, and it wouldn't work. We ended up with a calligrapher anyway...after all that. Just something to keep in mind, if you plan to use a laser printer.

Inkjet vs. Laser Printers...

I am using a laser printer to address my invites - I am printing directly onto the envelopes. Ours work, so our envelopes are not too thick! So far the trusty old HP LaserJet 6L has not let us down. But I would like to offer a word of advice to inkjet users. The ink will smear when wet, even after it has dried. So if the mailman is delivering your invitations on a day that it happens to be raining, there's no way to know if they'll get wet and smear or not. Laser jet ink may smear as well, as well as calligraphy pen, so you just want to use the best possible non-smearing ink if you can. I received an invitation weeks late for my friends wedding because she did them on an inkjet and the mailman got it wet, and then he couldn't read my address and it got sent back to her. Just a word of caution, take it for what it's worth.

Thank you all!

I will ask a friend who has the best penmenship that I know of, I do like the idea of handwritten if it is very neat. And plan B will be to find someone w/ a Laser printer, as long as the paper fits!

Used my own inkjet printer

I did my own on my printer at home and while it took 2 weeks to do them all (both inside and outside envelopes)they came out beautifully. It is a lot of work, but it was better than paying someone else to do it. I even got compliments on them.
