handcancel is when you actually stamp the envelope rather than letting a mchine do it, if the machine does it chances are your envelope will get all gross and nasty

lol thanks for explaining J. im so bad at explaining.

but i remember 1 of the docs got married last yr.. and her invites werent hand canceled. the envelope had black marks on them. rows of black marks. like a midgets bike ran it over lol she was piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiised

so the post office marks the stamps with a red stamp.. with the date on it.. so ppl wont try n reuse the stamps lol its just a circle stamp with the date and city i think
