Invites (Teachers)

Invites (Teachers)

I am a permanent sub for a 2nd grade at a school. This is my second year working as a permanent sub at this school until a position opens up (long story). I was just wondering if any new teachers (especially elementary) invited other teachers/principal/assistant principal. If so, how many did you invite? I can't invite EVERYONE I've gotten to know at the school, but I don't know what the rules are for this type of situation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Everyone knows I'm engaged, they announced it over the loudspeaker on the day we got engaged.

Invite those that you are really close with. If you're not, don't invite anyone. No one says you have to.

try to get a feel for the culture in your building. schools, especially in the lower grades where the numbers are small, each have sort of a tradition like that. in the high school where i worked, it's def not expected. in the middle school, it's got to be super small or you're stuck inviting everyone. in the primary school where my friend works, you essentially HAVE to invite the principal as an untenured person even though she probably won't go.

Thank you very much. I'm a little anxious about this question. I would have no problem inviting Principal, asst. Principal,Parent/teacher coordinator (i'm on great terms with her) plus husbands obviously, but as far as teachers ...? Last year I worked with kindergarten teachers and I became close with them and during our lunches I met a few others from every grade. They all know about the wedding and ask me about it all the time. I have no idea how to handle this. Its a fairly small school, but I can't invite 60 people, even if most of them won't show up. Who/how many did you end up inviting?
Oh and this principal will most definitely show up....she praises me to high waters and always hugs me.

The fact that you are having it over the summer is a huge plus! I would invite the people you feel closest too. Others will understand. YOu have some time to think about it, people you are close with now may not be the same in 4-5 months when the invites go out.

as far as teachers, i would limit it to individuals that you see OUTSIDE of school who have gone past the co-worker role and become friends you met @ work. beyond that, it really can get messy.

I work in a co-teaching room, so I only invited the 2 other teachers I work with. I just started in September.

I don't plan on inviting my principal or anything like that...I understand that you should do it, but we are trying to keep the numbers down so we are just sticking to family and close friends. I would just send it to their house or hand it to them at work.
