Invites/Guest Count Freakout

Ok, I'm not gonna lie...I'm kinda starting to freak out now.

I've been incredibly composed throughout the entire wedding process, and keep in mind we're doing this all from out of state (we live in FL, wedding is in NY).

We were originally going to send out invites on 7/7. Now, my mom is FREAKING OUT and SCREAMING her head off at me that this is 'too late' She demands that we send the invites out to 'her' guests sooner...like 6/15 the latest!

Anyway, we're gonna comply, just because I have enough $hit to deal with right now, and don't need any more!

Here's the thing...we paid Oheka up front for 125 guests. This is the # we guaranteed them. We are inviting 209, which both FH and I think is ludicrous to begin with.

Now, I'm freaking out that we're gonna have too many guests!!! I can't get this fear outta my head. I really cant.

I'm hoping that Thursday night makes it inconvenient for some people...especially OOT's that need to cut their work week short, pay for fights, accomodations, etc.

UGHHHHH....I just know that this stress is going to get to me, especially since invites are going out (Mom's people, not ours or FIL's guests) right before I start midterms!

What were your final numbers? Were you surprised? Was it more/less than you anticipated?

I hope so! I just secretly wish people can't make it on a Thursday....I would be ECSTATIC if we got between 125-140.

Some of them did, but about 50% were out of town so that affected it too.

We are over inviting...the list keeps growing...hope I will get NO's, since we only pre-paid for 100. Looks like the final number will be closer to 140.

We sent our invites out at the 3 month mark. We also had send out STDs about 10 months ahead.

We have about a 51% yes rate. A good amount of FH's family is OOT and we're a Sunday night. I think with a lot of OOTers on a Thursday, you should be in good shape for your 125 minimum.

I, on the other hand, invited 300 people and will not make my 170 minimum

We invited 70 total, had a bunch of last minute cancellations, in the end had 55 people there.

we have just a few more RSVP's that we're waiting for (freakin a$$holes!). Right now our head count is at 232 and our guarantee is 175 - that is WAYYYYYYYYYYYY more than we anticipated. i'm beyond shocked at the number of yes replies that we received. all i know is that these mofos better come and not back out the last min otherwise i'm going to flip the f*ck out!

I wanted to invite 160ish hoping for a final count of our min 125, but we ended up inviting 178 with all the 'and guests' and last min add ons my parents gave us. So far 23 yes, one no. Maybe the numbers of guests won't really affect the cost of things bc most people know to cover their plate.

my guest list is close to 290, but FH had a huge falling out with some of his family so we're dropping to like 280 i think. We guarenteed 225, and I'm hoping if we invite 275 we'll be right around 230.

we sent out 70 invites (140 people) and only had 8 nos

our saving grace was many people decided not to bring a date so we are coming in at 103 including FH and I.

our minimum was 100.

We guaranteed 125 too and had a lotttttt of Nos (thank g-d!) bec of OOT. we had 30% nos. we are going to have between 125-132.

Edit: I sent my invites early - feb 28 with RSVP date of 4/23- got all replies by May 1st about lol

CRASHING!

My mom tried the same thing when we went out our invites. She thought we were cutting it close with sending them out and not having enough time between the RSVP and the actual wedding (my mom is a little crazy).

What I explained to my mom is that I couldnt send out the invites too early because some people might forgot. Not everyone puts them on their fridge or their calendar so 3 - 3.5 months before the wedding is too far. We got married on Sept 5th and mailed out on invites the last Friday in June. But we were a holiday weekend so we were told to send them out 10-12 weeks in advanced - we did more like 10 weeks before. Maybe telling your mom that, it might help a little bit.

As for your guest list, you will be SO surprised who comes and who doesn't. We invited 300 people and we had 220 that came and that included us and the vendors (a lot of OTT guests).

We invited 140 people, and our final count is 119- we wanted exactly 120 (minimum 100).

We only had 4 unexpected No's, the rest we knew when we invited them that they wouldn't make it.

We have to guarantee 175. We are hoping for no less than 170, and no more than 180. I thought we were going to be way over, but we sent the invitations out and although a lot of people have yet to respond, we are hearing through the grapevine that a lot of people we thought would come can't make it. Now I am getting kind of nervous because our 'expected yes' list is down to 177 so it's cutting it really close!

Not to freak you out but if I was invited to a wedding at Oheka Castle, I would make a point to go! I've always wanted to go to a wedding there.!

Are ur parents paying for the Wedding?

Do u know this 35 oot ppl who may come?

My FMIl was trying to do da... We (FH and I) stopped her... Sorry we dont have that Much money We are paying for this with my parents. Shes not putting even $1 into our wedding.

But Hopefully many OOT dont come since its thursday...

Maybe u should send it Later like LoveDovy...
If u send it too soon maybe they will try to make it!!!

I'm flipping out because we have to promise 200 and our list is nearing 300!! FH and I are paying for it ourselves, and have already paid for the 200. I am praying people go away for ours (we are friday of labor day weekend) Idk what we're gonna do!
