Do you guys think that the colors in the invite have to coordinate with the wedding colors? We are thinking of an invite with a pumpkin colored design and midnight blue text, but I want my BMs in plum-ish colored dresses. Though our flowers will likely have some pumpkin-y colors, there wouldn't be any blue. The eggplant ink color they had FH wasn't too much of a fan of, he thinks it would look too gray as text (which I don't necessary disagree about).
Also, do place cards/menus have to coordinate with the colors/patterns in the invite?

I know a lot people that have invites that dont match there wedding. I do but Im crazy like that but noone is going to hold it against you if you find and invite you like. Go with what you want but as far as the menus I think they should go because they are part of the wedding.

by the way, it would be a horizontal card with a tree going up the left side with the leaves going across part of the top (in pumpkin) and the wording likely right-aligned.

I plan on having a consistent color theme from beginning to end but that is because that is what I want!!...

so you think the menus should coordinate with the invite? then the place cards would need to as well, since they would both end up on the table together...
for place cards i was thinking of getting ones that I can print on myself, and use a scrapbooking page edger on the bottom of them to punch a design out of them (either a scalloped edge or fall leaves), and use the same paper / punch for the menus

I was stressing over this... the green on my invites wasnt exactly what I wanted but everyone kept telling me it didnt matter and no one would even notice so I am thinking go with whatever you think looks best on each item! I havent gotten to menu and place cards yet but I will try to make sure they coordinate

well im having a hard time finding the right BLUE for my girls dresses, but no matter what im going with a Navy and Silver for my invitations from T*essa......
The girls are probably going to be in a much lighter blue that the invitations

I think it looks nice if the colors do coordinate. But its up to you. I am gonna look high and low for pretty invites that are purple and green. FH would prefer a simple white invite w purple lettering.

My invite is horizontal with a scrolls on the left , its in my album the blue and brown honestly do not exactly match but I don't think anyone is going to bring it to the wedding to compare. The invite matching the wedding I don't think is necessary. The menus and the place card should match the wedding because they are displayed at the wedding. It went to a wedding with a blue time the invites were silver and ivory and I didn't really care the invites were left at home. I only took the direction card and did think of the invite again till I got home it was still on the table

i dont think they HAVE to, but we plan on having the invites, menus, table numbers, favor donation cards and place cards made up by the same place so they are cohesive. (we are incorpoating a damask print so we dont want 5 different damask prints) HTH!
