Hi Ladies! So my FH and i are having a family and bridal party only eparty where we will have all the children in our family present. We are preparing a draft list for our wedding and have decided that it will be an adult only event....now how do we communicate this to our guests? is this worded on the invites? whats everyone else doing?

Re: Inviting children
I think if you address the envelope...asMr. and MRs...and leave out 'and family' it should be implied.

Re: Inviting children
I'm making sure to state that it is an adult only even but I am not writing that their are no children invited. I will have that done word of mouth. Between our parents and the bridal party everyone will be informed. I dont want to put it on the invites because I dont want to put anyone off. But I will start that it is an adult affair. When I can to confirm who will be attending the wedding I will make sure that all of my guests who have children understand that. If they care enough about you they will not mind one bit.

Re: Inviting children
how about for those family members or friends that just dont understand and need it spelled out... would it be rude to put on the RSVP card?

My friend printed her RSVP cards with the number of guests that she wanted to attend so that no one could write in there own number. For Example my invite where it said 'how many are attending' already had the number 1 next to it so I knew that I was not able to bring a guest and i was fine with it.. I understood why she did it.

Then they can just change the number from 2 to 1, it it were me I would call to say that I'm not bringing a guest.

Re: Inviting children
The number of people invited is generally indicated by the address on the envelope.
Examples:
Mr. & Mrs. Smith means just them The Smith Family means the whole family Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Joe means mom, dad, and Joe but no other children Ms. Smith - ms. smith, no guest Ms. Smith & Guest - ms. smith can bring a guest

Re: Inviting children
I've seen the reception card have printed ' Adult Reception'
We're doing the same thing... haven't decided how to word it or just let people know verbally.

Re: Inviting children
I am considering writing Adult only reception to follow. (Ceremony/Reception are at the same place, so people will get the hint.)
Also addressing the envelope with guests names only
Our RSVP card will read:
M___________________________
____ Accepts with pleasure ____ Adults will attend
____ Declines with regrets

Re: Inviting children
I think you should try to let people know via word of mouth. Also, address the envelopes to the adults only, specifically by name. Also, the RSVP card can leave a blank for number of guests attending. That way you can see who doesn't get the hint that their children aren't invited and can do something about it.

Re: Inviting children
I was wondering the same thing. I dont want children to attend as well. My wedding is on a friday night and its a grown and sexy event. I wasnt sure how to address the no children policy either. I didnt think word of mouth was enough

ITA If I recieved an invite that had just my name printed on the envelope, I would know the invite is for just me and no guest. If it said Mr and Mrs Shawn, then it would be me and him...I think anyone with half a brain is able to figure that out!! lol dont stress it, just label your invites like Laura said in her post...
